Covington Catholic 71 Mercer County 69
One of the best stretches in CovCath history and he's done it against, and I'm guessing here, a top 10 strength of schedule in the state.

Heard that Centre College talked to Machinot after the game.

Covington Catholic 71 Mercer County 69
Jake Thelen another dominant performance with 32 points going 16/22 and 9 boards. Connelly continues to improve and had 14 with 2 threes and Riedinger has found his shot and had 12 with 2 more threes. Machinot did an incredible job running the offense and had only 2 turnovers. Under a minute and Mercer county with the ball, Machinot steals the ball and they get it to Jake Thelen for the go ahead bucket. Schult ices the game with a steal at the end. Look out 9th Region, we're coming home. The Colonels with another game over 50% shooting 59% from the floor.

Make it stop. Only on BGP could this discussion turn into an argument about who I remember to be an athletic big man or not. Once again, I did not see Doellman or Brock play the 5. Anyone that did not see Geisler play last night, keep to yourselves how athletic he looked. Or watch the replay then come back to the discussion. paNDA backs me up. That's all I need.

No way anyone saying Jake Geisler is not athletic saw him play against the very athletic Bulldogs tonight. The kid is athletic. Period end of story. Want to come up with your list of more athletic centers, start your own thread and have a ball.

All you guys kill me. For one, I never saw Brock and Doellman play in t he 9th. Too busy running St. Pius girls basketball and watching my own kids, so don't tell me what I remember. Plus, I don't think they played Jake's position, so don't confuse tall men with big men. If you don't think Geisler is athletic with the ball then you don't watch him very closely. He brought the ball up against the press like a guard. He also did a half spin move and then drove to the basket and made a scoop shot like a guard. PLEASE get off the Doellman/Brock comparisons.

Jake Geisler is as athletic a big man that I can remember in the 9th not named Pittman.

Hey Old Guy, did your Mom say anything about a press break???

Covington Catholic 82 Campbell County 48
It was an honor Schabs. You are the best. Thanks so much for making a great game for the Colonels a lot more memorable for those who listen.

9th Region top players thus far
Drew Baker from CovCath has to be be an honorable mention based on his 3 assists away from a quadruple double alone. He's a difference maker.

Campbell County / Covington Catholic 12/22 Predictions
CovCath home games worth at least 10 points. I say Colonels by 7.

Sorry, I meant Wednesday against Campbell Co.

I'm cautiously optimistic about this year's Colonels, but if their guards settle down against the press and stop turning the ball over, they have a shot to get to Rupp. They also have to hit a few outside shots, and Riedinger and Cleves are crucial to that happening. If they hit shots and keep teams out of a zone, they are going to be a tough out. They have a POY candidate in Thelen, a perfect compliment to him in Baker, the X factor and a major matchup problem every time he takes the court in Connelly. They go 10 deep into their bench (Massie, Hayden, Arnzen, Hudepohl) and that is without the injured Andrew Schult who will certainly fill an intensity role that sometimes this team can lack. With his motor he's capable of scoring 6-10 and will be disruptive on defense. Free throw shooting has to be fixed, although the old guy is right, they've been hitting them when they need them. Granted the teams CovCath has beaten are combined 11-15, so they are still looking for that signature win that puts them solidly in the discussion. That could come Tuesday against Campbell who holds a win over Boone.

Covington Catholic 67 Conner 54
A huge factor in this game was the limited playing of Tyler Hodges. He played 6 minutes.

I'm just messing with you. But, that being said, a lot of people underestimate the home court advantage at CCH. Also, who could predict Baker's performance. It will stand for a long, long time as the single greatest performances by a player in a CovCath uniform. He was 3 assists away from being a story on ESPN in my opinion. No one could remember a CCH triple double. Add 7 assists, wow.

You're hedging Walter. You predicted a Conner 4 point win.

Ah shucks b-ball-fan, thanks bro. If you are ever in the gym stop by and say hey. Love to meet you. Like I did Ryan Roberts yesterday, the color man for the NKY broadcast. Although I did not listen, I heard they did a real nice job with it.

They ran a 2-2-1.

Lexington Catholic 57 Cov. Cath 44
Both teams shot under 40%. Schuette remains o'fer on the year from behind the arc, which is a pretty amazing stat. The telling stat of this game was LexCath 20 points off turnovers to CovCath's 2.

Hey Panda. Great Pics. You got a picture of Alex Connelly's block. One of the best I've ever seen. Brett will be very happy of his Jordanesque shot.

Simon Kenton 68 Harrison County 47
You see, now you're catching on. To be in the media the way you claim, covering this game and that game and giving your opinion the way you do on every team, to say Harrison County is "horrible" is not "professional".
