  1. Coach Sams was on Jamie Reed's assistant coaching staff prior to taking over as head coach at North Bullitt for the 2022 season. Congratulations and good luck to Coach Sams and the Dragons!
  2. I don't know how recent the cancellation was on DuBois' part. I noticed at least a couple of months ago when I was checking various schedule listings (Hudl, etc) that DuBois no longer had WOFO listed. But it's definitely tough at this point for Woodford to try to pick up an opponent. As for the RPI, I'm not sure how bad an out-of-state opponent would be compared to DuBois since DuBois is currently not in district play...it may end up turning out the same as far as RPI points are concerned. Additionally, the fact that DuBois is only scheduled to be a 2A program once they do join district competition isn't going to be a big RPI booster for Woodford in the first place.

  6. The Bobcats seem to perennially come in late with their football schedule, but gleaning from other schools' schedules, here's what I've got thus far: Aug 11 at Hazard (Scrimmage) Aug 18 at North Laurel Aug 25 at Boyd County Sep 1 vs. Letcher County Central Sep 8 at Perry County Central Sep 15 at Whitley County Sep 22 at McCreary Central (District) Sep 29 vs. Rockcastle County (District) Oct 6 vs. Knox Central (District) Oct 13 - BYE Oct 20 at Clay County (District) Oct 27 vs. Harlan County Of those 3 open dates, one will be filled with a district game against Rockcastle County, who is also yet to release their 2023 football schedule.

  8. WEB DuBois has dropped Woodford County from their schedule for Week 3 to play Shelby County instead. That leaves Woodford with an open spot to fill in their schedule either on September 1st or on September 22nd, which was their originally scheduled bye week.
  9. Final schedule is out. Looks like the game originally slated against Bethlehem is now switched to Thomas Nelson, Woodford County has been swapped for Shelby County, and Fort Knox has been added to finish things out. All road games. 10. Am I correct in remembering that Coach Kemp came in as an interim head coach at Graves initially, also? Maybe 3 or 4 years ago? @gcbleedblue any idea on that?
  11. Per St. Elizabeth Healthcare Sports, who is the official sponsor or the NKY All-Star Series, they're still waiting on finalized all-star selections from some of the coaches. Seems awfully late with the game only a week away.
  12. I've not seen anything about it on the school's website or on social media. And things have been pretty hush-hush otherwise.

  14. Dan Weber reported on Wednesday that Caden Miller (Jeff Ruby's step-grandson) will be on the team next year, as will Cash Harney and Logan Wermuth from Beechwood. He also stated that Athens McGillis is returning. Dan Weber’s Just Sayin’: Big news on 9th Region hoops, NKU’s historic spring, track by the numbers | NKY Tribune First of all, there’s 6-foot-9, 205-pound Caden Miller, an All-State Arkansas player from Bentonville High, a school of 3,143 students that finished third in Arkansas’ Class 6A, who will take his senior talents to Park Hills, Son of former Bengal Caleb Mller, who played at the University of Arkansas and is now the executive director of the Jeff Ruby Foundation, has an impressive skill set having averaged a double-double the last two seasons. Miller has a 36-inch vertical leap and looks equally at home on the perimeter as he is down on the blocks. He has offers from Missouri, Mississippi State, Oregon State and DePaul and the reputation as a shot-blocker. But he’s not alone. Two players who had a ton of varsity experience at Beechwood as freshmen – Cash Harney and Logan Wermuth — are also headed to CovCath. Two-sport guy Harney stepped in as starting quarterback the first five games last fall with Clay Hayden’s injury including a tough one at CovCath, where he completed 50 of 76 passes with two interceptions and seven touchdowns. He’ll compete with junior Evan Pitzer for the starter’s role in football and will give the Colonels a point guard to play along with returning starter Athens McGillis, also a sophomore-to-be. In 15 games, Harney averaged 15.0 points a game and 2.8 rebounds while Wermuth played in 31 games with a 4.3 scoring average along with 2.3 rebounds.
  15. @The Oracle mentioned Logan Wermuth in the original post in the thread. He was one of 4 players on the Beechwood roster to play in all 31 games last season. Beechwood's Hudl roster last year listed him as a 6'1" freshman SG/SF. I believe his family moved into the area from around Winchester. He's a pitcher with the Cincy Flames as well. I haven't seen anything definitive about Logan transferring, but I have heard numerous people say in the last couple of months that he is going to be enrolling at Cov Cath. At 6'1" I wouldn't necessarily call Wermuth a big, though. Beechwood did have a sophomore "big" last year in center Mattox Kelly. He was also a offensive lineman/defensive end on Beechwood's JV team. But I haven't heard a word about Kelly transferring - just looking through the Tigers' roster for big men. Are either of those the guy you're talking about @Cov_Cath_Hwy?
  16. Stating the obvious, usually mass resignations are indicative of in-house problems. Teachers and coaches oftentimes leave because of administrators. Sometimes administrators will resign because of other administrators, sometimes they'll resign because of their school boards, sometimes it's because of other pressure within the district, and sometimes it's because of none of those things. Here's the timeline of events in the Elizabethtown Independent School District. So where does the problem start? April 27 - Superintendent Kelli Bush announces leave of absence effective May 1. May 4 - Donnie Swiney resigns as girls basketball coach at EHS after 7 years as head coach and many more as an assistant coach. May 24 - Superintendent Kelli Bush announces resignation after 3 years as superintendent. May 26 - Amber Courtney named girls basketball coach at EHS. May 30 - Ross Brown resigns as football coach via text message. No word on whether or not the official paperwork has been filed for his resignation. May 31 - Thad Elmore announces resignation as EHS principal effective July 1.
  17. Hearing rumors about E-town head coach Ross Brown heading a little bit north to a private school.
  18. Open, per the KHSAA open jobs site. The Eagles were 6-23 last year under head coach Sam Miller.
