  1. I definitely think that's something worth making you question it. This game has been played in the summer months since at least the 1960s, so the change would appear to be the fact that the demand of the college programs has increased - especially when you look at how many college sports are now pushing for freshmen to graduate from high school early in order to be on campus at the college in spring to start workouts and practices with the team at that point rather than in the summer, as they traditionally have. I do think it's interesting, though, that Indiana's roster appears to have more players with big-time D1 program commitments, and yet they are still planning on playing in the high school all-star game. The shift in methods and practices by the college programs certainly makes you have to wonder if the All-Star game should look to pivot and change up its traditional schedule. But at the same time, why does this not appear to be such an issue for Indiana players while Kentucky had its Mr. Basketball, Reed Sheppard, drop off the roster late in the process and had one of the stronger Mr. Basketball contenders in Evan Ipsaro decline to even take place in the All-Star game in the first place?
  2. Here are a couple of pictures from inside of Corbin's Ossie Burch Fieldhouse:
  3. Here are some pictures from the dedication of the Covington Catholic Fieldhouse back in August '22. The building was originally the old Town & Country indoor soccer facility behind the Town & Country Restaurant in the mid-to-late 1990s, and then when Town & Country moved out to Wilder, it was sold to a competitive cheer organization as their practice facility, and Cov Cath has had it for the last couple of years. They completed their renovation of the facility about this time last year thanks to a large donation from the Cincinnati Bengals, and it's been a really great addition to the athletic resources we have at Cov Cath.

  9. Per the KHSAA directory. If this is the guy I'm thinking of, I believe he was previously on the coaching staff at Madisonville-North Hopkins. Or it may have been Hopkins County Central, actually?

  11. I'm not trying to cast stones at all. I struggle to feel sympathy sometimes when it seems like all of the evidence at hand is pointing at someone being absolutely guilty. But still, in order for the system to work, you have to still try to respect how it was designed to work. It's taken me a long while to try to embrace that a little more. We have to try and look at people as being innocent in the eyes of the law until they are proven not to be, and that even includes while they are in custody and facing charges. Personally, I think seeing the results of The Innocence Project has opened my eyes to the need to maintain open-mindedness to that even moreso.
  12. Playing devil's advocate, somewhat......folks are still innocent until proven guilty in the United States, right? So Richard Allen is still innocent, in the eyes of the law. Furthermore, what if he IS innocent? Makes, "Hate that for him...Not!!!" seem a little more flippant, doesn't it?
  13. Looking ahead to the 9th Region Tournament: Beechwood now has 4 losses to teams in the 9th with one loss each to Conner, Cov Cath, Highlands and Ryle. They have one win, each, over Cov Cath, Highlands and Ryle. Cov Cath has 2 losses to teams in the 9th, with one loss each to Beechwood and Ryle. Today also added a win over Beechwood.
  14. Cov Cath repeats as the 35th District champs. Beechwood led 3-2 at the end of the 1st inning. Cov Cath tied it at 3 in the 3rd inning, and went up 4-3 in the 4th inning. Beechwood tied it back up at 4 in the 6th inning, and then the Colonels started off the 7th inning with two outs and no one on before pulling ahead for the win with 3 late runs in the first half of the inning. The Tigers weren't able to rally in the bottom of the 7th.
