  1. I definitely like Yuengling, but for that specific scenario, the lighter the beer (and the colder the beer) the better...so I'm usually opting for Coors Light or Miller Lite. Also another similar simple pleasure, for me, is fishing an ice cold beer out of the cooler instead of the fridge. Like I want it to be so cold that my hand hurts just a little if I have to get any more than one beer out. If I'm hosting a cookout or picnic or anything like that, I have the drinks in the cooler on ice the night before....maybe even with a little salt added in with the ice. Beer out of the cooler > Beer out of the fridge.
  2. This is really, really sad. It's the kind of thing that makes you realize how quickly and easily it could all be over for anyone at any time. I've also had a couple of people reach out to me asking if I've heard anything about aide rendered by the coaching staff in the incident. It sounds like there is some question about whether or not anyone on the Pulaski County coaching staff on hand had up-to-date CPR or state-mandated safety training. I really, REALLY hope that doesn't turn into an issue for Coach Hines and company.
  3. One of my friends texted me after Luke's first at bat: "He did do the most Cincinnati Reds thing he could do...grounded into a double play with runners on...so he is OFFICIALLY a Red." 😂😂
  4. That was a lot of buildup for a really simple answer, there.

  7. Per the Open Jobs master thread, Coach Shedrick Jones has retired from coaching after over 30 years of coaching hoops in the JCPS system.
  8. Sounds like they're working on building an empire over at the oldest high school in Kentucky.
  9. He left to coach at IU Southeast two or three years ago.
  10. They've tended to keep their business quiet the last couple of times they've hired a football coach.
  11. The job has been listed as open after assistant coach Ryan Bonner stepped in as interim head coach this past season following the ousting of Jason Mays in November 2022, just two weeks before the start of the season for the Tomcats. Who are the likely candidates to get the job?
  12. Coach Harrington announced that he was stepping down on February 1st. The Warriors football program is quickly approaching 2 months without a head coach.
  13. Thanks JD. Added in with Lynn Camp, which opened up yesterday, that brings us back up to 7 open jobs, plus Doss, which may or may not be officially open with Coach Crowe allegedly intending on keeping the head coaching job for the Dragons after retiring from teaching. Current open jobs: Anderson County Bracken County Caldwell County Frankfort Lexington Catholic Lynn Camp Western Pending: Doss
  14. Per Todd Griffin with YourSportsEdge, Caldwell County's coach Will Barnes has stepped down as head coach of the Tigers. Barnes is the son of former Caldwell County head coach Dave Barnes, who passed away unexpectedly in the summer of 2019. Will took over the program for the 2020 season and led the Tigers football program to a 15-14 record over the past three seasons. No word on what Coach Barnes' next move will be.
  15. Jason Booher is the superintendent at Mercer County. I believe he took the job at Mercer in the summer of 2021. North Hardin grad. He was the head basketball coach at Shelby Valley from 2005-2010 school years, and in 2010 he led Shelby Valley to become the only school in state history to win the All-'A' and the Sweet 16 in the same year. Then he headed to Holmes from the 2011-2014 school years where he was head coach and assistant principal, and put out some really, really tough teams with the Bulldogs. Then he retired from coaching to become the assistant principal and athletic director at Pikeville, and eventually took the principal job at Pikeville. He left there to become Mercer County's superintendent. He's also an extremely good dude.
  16. #CoachesFromTheirPlayingDays Travis Jones just got his first head coaching gig at Greenup County High School, but before he picked up the whistle, he was toting the pigskin at Russell High School.
  17. #CoachesFromTheirPlayingDays Clay Clevenger, who just took over as head football coach at Somerset High school, may be well known as a head coach, but before that he was an offensive guard at Danville High School and was a finalist for the 1995 Mr. Football Award.
  18. Per the Maysville Ledger Independent when he was hired by Bracken County in June '21, Bracken County was his first head coaching job, and had previous "coaching experience at Northwest in Clarksville, Tennessee, where he served as the offensive coordinator and assistant head coach and was the offensive line coach at Allen County-Scottsville and Hart County." He's a Harrison County High School grad. I want to say he was a tight end in high school. Graduated around '08 or '09 if memory serves.
  19. Still trending pleasantly low with the number of jobs that have turned over. The Bracken County job that came open on Friday was the 30th head coaching job to come open this offseason, while the annual average since 2015 has been 42 jobs that have turned over. Currently sitting with 5 jobs left to be filled in the state, but it certainly would seem that the head coaching moves around the commonwealth are winding down for the year. Current open jobs: Anderson County Bracken County Frankfort Lexington Catholic Western Pending: Doss
  20. Yeesh...Bracken County is really accustomed to having to find a new football coach. The Polar Bears have had 8 head head coaches in the first 20 years of their football program. 2003-2006 Rodney Ollier 2007-2008 Chuck Faust 2009-2010 Andrew McIntosh 2011 Kevin Siple 2012-2016 Mike Sizemore 2017-2018 Dave Brausch 2019-2020 Tim Carver 2021-2022 Simon Clouse
  21. Yep, super-senior Guy Bailey is gonna be a really nice boost for the Redhounds offense and defense, both. He led Somerset in rushing yards, touchdowns, and tackles last year.
