  4. It's going to be interesting to see how the KHSAA adjusts when they realign the classifications for the 2025 and 2026 seasons. Currently all six of the Northern Kentucky 2A programs are competing in District 5, and then the four Louisville/Central-Western Kentucky 2A programs are competing in District 4, with WEB DuBois coming in as a fifth team in District 4 starting in 2024. All of the remaining districts in 2A have four teams a piece. Assuming there aren't any other teams that move into 2A for the next realignment (which isn't exactly a realistic assumption to make), I'm guessing they move Carroll County to from District 5 to play with District 4. Then District 4 and District 5 will both have six teams. They could also potentially look at shift Lexington Christian from District 4 to District 6 so they have 2 five-team districts and only 1 six-team district. Who knows. Regardless, I predict some unhappy campers in 2A once we see the next round of realignment come out. Class 2A 1- Caldwell County, Crittenden County, Mayfield, Murray 2- Edmonson County, Fort Campbell, Owensboro Catholic, Todd County Central 3- Clinton County, Green County, Metcalfe County, Monroe County 4- Fort Knox, Lexington Christian, Shawnee, Washington County, WEB DuBois** 5- Beechwood, Bracken County, Carroll County, Gallatin County, Owen County, Walton-Verona 6- Breathitt County, Danville, Leslie County, Somerset 7- Floyd Central, Knott County Central, Martin County, Prestonsburg 8- Betsy Layne, East Ridge, Pike County Central, Shelby Valley **- Not eligible for district postseason competition until at least 2024
  5. St. Henry's promotional video released on November 11, 2022 stated that the Cru would begin playing JV football in the 2025 season and then move up to Varsity in 2026, and their updated timeline released two days ago on June 14th moved that timeline up to JV football in the 2024 season and Varsity in 2025. In Evan Dennison's article from LinkNKY, principal Grant Brannen states that St. Henry currently has 260 kids playing in their 1st-8th grade flag football league. Original Timeline: Updated Timeline:
  6. Have confirmed, this will be the final season for the Christian County and Hopkinsville football teams, with the two consolidating to form the Hopkinsville Christian County Academy team for the 2024 season.
  7. Good catch...thanks guys. I've got the original post edited to reflect the game against Franklin-Simpson in the J Allen Builders Bowl at Warren East. They're playing in the 6:00pm game, with Daviess County playing Warren East in the 8:00pm game.
  8. Original bids went out for the school building last July, and their budget of $130 million for the building was well-exceeded when they received only two bids back, averaging $200 million between the two. A redesign of the building was submitted by the architect to the school district earlier this spring, and the board voted to send the project back out to bid in May. Looks like they have received their bids back, but no word as far as I've heard on how that went. Looking at the couple of things I've seen online, they are phasing out the construction of the new school, with the athletic complex to come as part of Phase 2.
  9. If memory serves from the thread about Christian County and Hoptown consolidating, the 2023 season is intended to be the final football season for the two schools to play on their own before consolidating, correct?

  11. Looks like former Eastern coach Shawn Yohn has had some big changes in life. He's now out in Puyallup, Washington serving as defensive coordinator for the Rogers High School Rams.
  12. Looks sharp! And I love when they can work the grandstand into a hillside like that.
  13. I was surprised to see that it's happening, but I love it! @WOFOJP61 @Down4theblue ...either of you two have any idea what the impetus was for scheduling the game against Warren High School out of Downey, CA? Or know where it's going to be played?
  14. Congratulations and good luck to Coach Carbello and the Eagles!
  15. I doubt there are many of the currently Laker football players who know much of anything about Rush, but count me as one who digs the music playing in this one....

  19. Yessir. Not everyone does it, but you are supposed to water artificial turf. Watering helps reduce the rate that the sun breaks down the artificial playing surface. Ever seen an old plastic bottle that's been sitting out in the sun for a year?
  20. They went with Motz's Envirofill product instead of their Safeshell product. Safeshell is made of pulverized walnut and hazelnut husks, whereas Envirofill is rounded granular quartz with Motz's proprietary coating over it. The Envirofill infill does not require field watering, is tan in color rather than the black rubber pellets' color that is more heat-absorptive, and it is supposed to last the life cycle of 2 turf field surfaces rather than requiring replacement every time the turf field surface requires replacement. Not sure what the upcharge is for Envirofill, but it's definitely gonna cut down on water costs in the long-term life of the infill product.
