$100.00 fine by KHSAA that they can impose if they want to for not reporting. QUOTE=gchs_uk9;4668308]Why wouldn't the coach do it then? It literally takes 1 minute to do it.

could be the best or smartest if 75 is shutdown and no other alternatives. Never know until situation arrives. I practice that situation all the time and depends on how the ball is hit, and again. If all players are moving, I am talking all 9 players in field should be moving somewhere, not standing still gazing...

You are talking college and Olympians and she would not need to cover 1st in those instances, We are talking high school, and with high schools you have some with different types of talent of these teams. You have to play your defense with what you have, if you know what I mean. This is off topic, but when David Justice played at Thomas More, coach connor would switch him from left field to right field in same inning based on who was batting....

Yes, line drive to 1st, 1st baseman was good at diving, not good at getting back to her feet. Underhand to the pitcher who was quick off the mound who beat runner to 1st. Also, this pitcher would cover bunts on 1st base side, unless runner on third and 1st baseman was playing way in. There is different ways to run coverages, depending on the athletic ability of players involved.

Everybody is moving on the play when a ball is hit, nothing wrong with 2b or pitcher covering...Someone better be there. Both should be moving, reacting to the ball. You have a double safety firstbase, should be no problem with injury of pitcher covering. Same thing as backing up 1st base, depends where it is hit, everybody again should be moving. Sometimes, 2nd backs up throw to 1st, sometimes it is right fielder and sometimes the catcher. If players react to where the ball is hit, everybody should be moving somewhere, no one standing and watching.

Yeah, I know...When I first read, and didnt notice other responses on this my bad.....Anyhow, speaking of watching Dicky. I remember the Lloyid Invitational game that Dickey had against Harrison County. He had a dunk or two that game in 1980. I remember, Ray Meyer (Depaul) and Joe B Hall (Ky) were there.

Schloemer graduated in 1978 from Holmes and Beal graduated in 1980. Beal played after Schloemer...

They also have a Sophmore pitcher transferring in from Nicholasville, who is a pretty good pitcher.

Who hosted Freshman tournament this year for girls teams.

Girls team will not be in districts this year, but it would be 5 vs 4 as play in game, winner to play 1 seed. QUOTE=coopsquad;4585509]How will the seeding look with a Heritage team that plays no district games? Not included? Automatic 5th seed? If so, which seed would they play? The 4th as a play in game?

We are in ALL A Softball for 2013. I was at the meeting.

[They also had a team the year after Sydney transferred out, it has been 4 years however. Pretty tough to be in the district where 3 of those teams in 33rd are also, rated in preseason top 5 of 9th Region. QUOTE=Lawnboy13;4520623]Nice article about Heritage in the Enquirer......http://nky.cincinnati.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/AB/20121114/SPT0302/311140068/

No hard feeling between these 2 in fact they were talking this week on help fill out coaching staff at St. Henry. Obviously some people have blue feelings towards Coach Mullins, be he is well respected in Northern Ky and beyond for his coaching abilities. And if you want your kid to play college ball, he will help you anyway he can even ones who has not played for him. He has lots of college contacts, more than you can imagine.

Bert Capel Jr, the last few years was on Leonard Hamiltons Florida State staff as a graduate assistant, this coming season he has taking a job down in Texas

Doug went to Scott High School and yes was a good pitcher and 1st Baseman. His brother Mark played at Simon Kenton.

I am sure things will change now. Fields will be fixed, an upgrade will happen..... QUOTE=Old Sports Dad;4463238]Totally agree. Unfortunately, the maintenance was all one guy. While I applaud his emmense effort, he utlimately chose not to ask for help or even accept it when offered. I personally don't like the Grass baselines from a maitenance standpoint, but I think they are there to stay. I do think there are many infields, both Dirt and Grass that are worse than Beechwood.

They knew that when St. Henry hired him, that he was interested in Beechwood job if it came available. St. Henrys principle was his assistant coach at Lloyd when he played there in 76-77 year

Kids looking for playing time should send kids to smaller private schools, such as Heritage, Villa, Calvary etc. At least through there 6th-8th grades they could play varsity while in middle school, and transfer back during there high school years. Heritage had a decent season, finishing 12-16 with losing close games with Dixie, and Lloyd (district) was closer than final indicated as it was a 1 run game going into 5th...

1st or 2nd. I would not be surprised that they also contact Coach Mullins and try to get him back.

Brown canceled due to ice coming from Louisville...Weather related...Nothing to do with small schools...

Is that counting her 7th grade year at Heritage. I dont think it is. I can get those for you Frank...She may be over that mark already.

Will be very young, could use some transfers in for anybody wishing to transfer in that got cut or will not get a lot of playing time. Small fish at bigs schools get overlooked, but can be very good at a small school. Usually get transfers in from the bigger schools...

They are very young....They will have a team this year.

I coach fastpitch girls 10 and under and 8 and under teams, and I use little golf balls that we soft toss, before that, they are hitting off tee with correct way to hold bat, then fastpitch balls to them at a shorter distance than pitching depth. I have some teams and parents yell at me for throwing them too fast, but after 3rd game, they shut up as they can see even young kids can catch up with timing of faster pitches.....

Lets throw a wrinkle into it. 1st and 2nd or bases loaded...Same thing, ball in air. Umpire yells infield fly rule. Batter is out. This happened to me in Fastpitch game last year. I argued, infield fly IF FAIR....ball rolled foul. I lost the argument but I think I was right foul ball. Mine was between catcher and pitcher, and it hit ground without hitting anybody and rolled foul because of backspin. ....
