Individual awards/post-season awards/coaches' awards
Coaches do make a list and submitted for the other coaches to vote on. You can not vote for your own players, You rank players 1 thru 12, and its broken down by 3 divisions by size of school in the Northern Ky Coaches Association. You have 1st and 2nd Team and rest is honorable mention. That is for the Northern Ky Schools, Then you have the NKAC Conference, done the same way.

Who is the Best H.S. Pitcher you've seen or better faced?
One of the best 9th Region Final (i think it was region final, not district) was 1976 or 77 Boone County vs Lloyd. I think it was 1976. Dan Hoard (BC) beat Mark Molitor Lloyd 1-0. If I am not mistaken, Hoard threw a 1 hitter and Molitor a 2-hitter..

Who is the Best H.S. Pitcher you've seen or better faced?
I graduated in 1981, and the toughest pitchers I remember facing was Steve Engle of Reading HS who later got drafted by the Cubs, and Scott Arnold from Lexington Ky who played briefly with St. Louis Cardinals. 9th Region was loaded with some tough pitchers during this time, Greg Stansberry Dixie, Doug Losey NewCath, Kevin Martin WV, Doug Peddicord Scott, Ron Peters, (campbell county), our team at Lloyd had Pumphrey (79-80), Ray Brake (79-80), Kevin Hutchinson(81), Roger Schreck(82), Steve Molitor (83) and Greg Kunkel(84) all pitched on 81 team.

Any thoughs on how to improve the NKY Jr/Sr All-Star games
I like the format now, with Senior game (all seniors) and Juniors (all Juniors) no other underclassmen, (they will have there time to shine) The profile sheets would be good idea. The format is good now how you divide up players, however you could divide them up Division I all-stars vs Division II and III or go group the district all Star teams together (33rd,34th,etc vs 35th,36th) or Private schools vs Public Schools. Just an Idea, since you asked, but Kevin you do a wonderful job how it is and how its divided.

Should high schools build up their numbers at the expense of the middle schools?
I was going to suggest, if middle kids are talented enough to play up at a school and can't, Transfer to a school and play, then transfer back to your high school your Freshman year (if you want).

Heritage Academy 2014/15
Coach Mia Bradford, former Notre Dame Alumni, who coached Beechwoods Freshman class last year comes to Heritage Academy and takes over the Ladies program. Her roster consists of 2 Seniors, 3 Juniors, 3 sophmores and 1 Freshman. Depth on roster will be an issue this year, but strengths will be stronger team play, and hopefully get some transfers coming in or returning.

Umpiring Basics -- Plays at First Base
I have always said that is an easy call to make and its missed tremendously, and the only one that knows truly if he was out or safe is the first baseman because he can feel the ball hit his glove and when runner hits the bag. But you are right BlueTip, I was yelling at that as soon as I seen the call.

Lloyd - Top All-Time 3 Players
- Dixie Heights 6 Beechwood 2 (9th Region Tournament)
Front Row to the left of home plate- Dixie Heights 6 Beechwood 2 (9th Region Tournament)
It was the 2-2 curve ball that was perfect that the umpire as well as batter got fooled. He can not pitch him any better than he did. 2 high fastballs after an 0-2 count followed by the curve ball that was strike 3 and not called. This game should have went to the eighth, although that homerun was a great way to end a great ballgame- Dixie Heights 6 Beechwood 2 (9th Region Tournament)
The pitch was perfect by Stringer, not wide at all, actually with an 0-2 count he threw High fast ball, another high fastball to get the batters eyes looking high, and broke off a beautiful curve ball that caught Elkus looking as well as the ump. It definitely caught the ump off guard, it was not wide. uy;4695828]The greatest game in the land Baseball, proved tonight why it is the greatest game! In Football you can lose because of running out of time, as you can in Basketball, but in the greatest game in the land, you don't lose by the running out of time but only by making that last out. The game tonight wasn't over until the last out was made and Beechwood couldn't and Dixie wouldn't, allow it to happen! Congrats to both teams and thank you all for such a fun evening of Baseball. Okay, I going to say this and you all know that all year long I have been on Blues side but tonight from my seat the HP Blue was calling a strike that looked to me to be wide all night long. Now I have no problem with it at all, as he was consistently calling that pitch on both teams a strike until Elkus came to bat with two outs and men on 2nd and 3rd with the score tied and two outs. I believe with a 2-2 count, Stringer hit the same spot that Blue had been calling a strike all night long but for whatever reason, Blue called it a ball and then Elkus walked prior to the Grand Slam HR by Combs. Great game, great effort by Dixie and congrats to Max, Patrick and Petey! - Dixie Heights 6 Beechwood 2 (9th Region Tournament)
