That's what I was thinking of as well. I THINK they're still there. There's that or the batting cages over off of 18 almost right next to Boone County HS, I think that place is still there it was Sports of all Sorts originally.

Champions is open right across the 275 bridge near Coney. They opened at the old RiverStar Softball Complex..

Thats one I went to all the time as ball player for Scott and for the Kentucky Colonels. They have went through many owners over the years and has changed dramatically since I moved to NKY when I was 8 years old. Still its a good place to go although the place does need some work.

While there is a set of batting cages over there I have always questioned how things were set up there. A lot of the times I felt that the balls were not coming as fast as they were said to be but some stations were okay. My biggest issue with the place was the white balls they were using and the white background they had behind them that made seeing the ball difficult at times. They may have changed since I was last there since I'm at UK but I know for a fact things were still the same 2 years ago when I took my brother over to hit so its been a little while.

Regardless if you have the time, I'd REALLY recommend just buying a bunch of small plastic golfballs and throwing them to the ballplayer to hit. Some plastic ones are better than others because if you hit it with a real bat you will dent them somtimes. Just get a feel for the balls and see how strong/dense they feel (alot of the times just how heavy they are will give you an indicator). I find this a much better help when preparing a player because you hit balls that are small and thus there is much less room for error. Thus if you hit it will, you are hitting it just right off the bat and that should translate over into the game.

Cages are way overrated. They aren't bad to knock the rust off and are better than nothing at all. But hitting pitches thrown at the same speed, in the same place over and over again, don't help you much as a hitter

At The Yard in Florence on Weaver Rd. They don't use pitching machines, you can reserve time in their cage to throw your own batting practice, or the owner Chris Hook will arrange for an instructor for you. These guys are top-notch.

Pitching machines are way overrated.. Nothing like seeing the ball out of a pitchers hand..I know up at SWOBAT where we practice they have a ProBatter Simulator which is awesome..It is a huge screen where a pitcher is simulating throwing a pitch. The ball comes out of a hole where the ball would come out of the pitchers hand. The machine throws fastballs, changeups, sliders etc...Pretty cool...SWOBAT also has •15,000 sq. ft. Indoor Turfed Field (120' x 120'), •(4) 70' Pitching Cages with mounds, •(9) 55' Hitting Cages and a •70' Bullpen with 2 mounds....

I agree Brandon Berger and Chris Hook are both top notch instructors..

Midwest hoops(old SOAS) turned their cages into an indoor soccer field so the one by Johnny’s is it for a walk-in in northern Kentucky..... that being said not sure how safe they are... They need some serious upkeep holes in the netting and no room to warm up.

But i do agree with above post live pitching if far better than "target practice" with a machine.

And you can usually forget about just walking in on weekends because it is rented out to teams most of the time. And the place is in pretty poor shape, and space is tight. Hitting wiffle balls ion the back yard is a better option....and you don't have to worry about damaging your expensive bat.....those cage balls can do a number on your bat.

Nothing wrong with hitting in a cage. Not every one has a back yard, a bucket of wiffle balls and someone to toss them to you. Someone on here could volunteer to come to your house and throw you some balls.

Don't the high schools have indoor cages?
