I know there was another pitcher there (at ATY) by the name of Todd. He was good instructor as well. He definitely had an interesting approach as I always felt like he really emphasized the legs in the pitching potion. Its definitely nice to change it up time to time to get different perspectives as pitching isn't an exact science and there are many different motions and quirks that have allowed pitchers to be successful.

As soon as you said "he really emphasized the legs" I knew it was Todd Etler. '92 grad of Covington Catholic. I think he was a 3rd round selection by the Reds out of high school. Currently living in Texas, near Dallas/Ft. Worth.

I thought Todd Etler was an excellent pitching instructor at ATY. It was a few years ago when my son had a few lessons with him. After one of the lessons when Todd was completing one of those pitcher evaluation forms I remember noticing the fingers on his hands were extremely long - which I would think could be very helpful to a pitcher in gripping the ball and getting it to move. If I recall correctly, he said he was or had pitched in the Cape Cod League after recovering from arm surgery - I hope I got that right - well, it's what I remember...

Todd had gotten close to the big leagues several times but never made it. I'm pretty sure he's had at least one shoulder and one elbow operation.

Tried to stop by the Erlanger batting cage today with my little brother and there were a ton of people there that it was not worth the wait. It didn't hit me until I got home that I should've made a half hour appointment to guarantee cage time. Well when I called they told me that with the number of high school kids coming in to get swings that there weren't taking reservations and were just asking people to take one round and then rotate with the other people waiting. Seemed like they didn't really have a way to handle the number of people.

That or we need another batting cage to open up to provide competition, in turn forcing the Erlanger Batting Cages to improve or lose business.

 

P.S. I have great plans drawn up for an indoor training facility (similar to what Champions has) if anybody has a TON of extra cash to invest. Its my goal to one day open a facility like that up.

I heard that there is an investor that is going to build a multi-purpose basketball/baseball facility in Wilder..I guess we'll see if it happens..

The batting cage in Ft. Wright is open and I have heard good things about it. It sits behind the White Castle Distribution building across from Pioneer Park.

Is that Hits (or something similar)? I've heard that mentioned a few times, but didn't know where it was located.
