I wouldn't say that it's a "bad" school tournament. There were three All A participants this year who made it to the state tournament. The different levels of play in the All A are pretty similar to what you see in the state. You have the powers and you have the schools that aren't so great and the game results show it. As a parent who has had daughters play in the All A and the state tournament, I can say that you have small schools in the All A that, if located in other districts or regions, would be in the state each year--and would do well.

Having said that, and having seen some of the teams represented in the Class all state team, I'd have put the two St. Henry players higher up as well.

"Bad" in my post meant that of the 16 teams there aren't many that are "really good." Bad may be a tad strong but it was meant to show that it's not like winning the KHSAA where even there you don't have brackets filled with great teams.

I can agree with this. Not to thread jack--but just as an example--the 9th Region boys soccer champs had just one player with an honorable mention on the All State soccer list.

This is ridiculous.... Kymbria Williams (Raceland) didn't even get honorable mention for 1A and she just committed to the University of Tennessee yesterday. That's ridiculous.

yea, I have a lot of problems with this list too - and why I continue to say these types of votes are quite incomplete, in not flawed. The KVCA membership selects these teams. Problem #1 is only 50% of all KY volleyball coaches are in the KVCA, and probably less than that even bother to vote. #2 is of the coaches who are in the KVCA and/or bother to vote, it's an uneven geographical distribution across the state. So to use the Raceland example, how many eligible coaches even saw her play this year? Did Louisville area coaches get to see her in the regular season to compare her with Louisville area talent?

 

I think it's easy to get the high end players right on a list like this in any sport, the players everyone knows about. It's filling out the roster, the last players in, that's the tricky part.

Another example..Hayley Bush sophomore from Ryle just committed to Purdue!

Ahhh the semantics of the recruiting process. Yes, that is what I meant. Committing in my mind equates erroneously to a "signed letter of intent", because everyone knows that if you sign a letter of intent to a specific college you are then committed to that school. But on the other hand if you only verbally commit to the same school, you can change your mind at any time and so can the college/university. Therefore Committing isn't being committed, but signing is.
