I always catch crap for saying it, but I think Timmy is the most athletically talented player in the 16th region since the Juice or Billy Walker. Greg Fugate was a raw talent, that only played one year. Had he not had his personal problems off the court, and played for more than a year, he'd be playing at a school of big time notoriety IMO. And I'm talking about Georgetown, UConn, Louisville or a UK type school. I don't know if Timmy will end up going somewhere that big but I could see him playing at either a Western or somewhere like Butler where a big of a similair game style like Matt Howard has really impressed. I'm curious to see if he will remain at EC after his brother graduates or if he will move to a bigger school where he could get some big-time looks. Not saying that it is impossible for him to get looks while still at a small school-Ferguson is getting looks from some decent schools and Landon Slone from Paintsville is at UK now. Also, this is not meant to disrespect Coach Mays, but had he played under a coach with a knack for developing talent, he could be what everyone thought Dakotah Euton was going to be during middle school, if not better.

I think Timmy has the potential to be the best of all the boys to play at EC. Probably not at the high school level but definitely in college. I've watched Timmy a few times over the season and I am very impressed with his outside game and athleticism. IMO he needs to work on some post savvy and aggressiveness on the defensive end; he needs to be a little less lazy on the defensive end as well. He is probably 6'7-6'8 right now, and more than like will have another growth spurt before he graduates, so he may end up being in the 6'10-6'11 range. If he can keep building on his outside game, get a little tougher in the trenches-with emphasis on the defensive end-he could end up being a big D-1 Prospect.

Don't worry, BGP will have them in the top five this week, I think at #3, maybe #2 if they drop Holmes.

It's a shame, kind of reminds you of the argument that has crept up the last two seasons in College Football. Several called for a Texas/OU rematch-although Florida would have handled both :thumb:-and in 2007, many argued Georgia and LSU should have met for the MNC and had Dennis Dixon been healthy, possibly a USC/Oregon rematch. The 7th and 11th have 6 or 7 teams in the top ten and all have a legitimate shot to win the state, and yet only 2 will make. Maybe a BCS Formula for the Sweet 16 :ohbrother:

Ah, I forgot about County. Well, the #'s don't lie, 4 is one more than 3. If that holds up the 11th takes it for now.

Three a piece from each. 7th: Ballard, Eastern and Jeffersontown. 11th: Scott County, Station and Catholic.

Ehh, they won't fall out of the top ten, so that will be still be 3 teams in the top 10.

From what I have seen of all four of the 62nd district members, it should be a dandy of a tournament! I think that EC will either beat East in the first round big or it will be a close game. Coach Baker is the best coach in the 16th region in terms of X's and O's and he will have his boys ready to play. In the second game, Morgan and West, I'll take Morgan, West started the season out strong beating some pretty garbage teams IMO and have faltered in District play; their peak was the Elliott County game in Olive Hill. Morgan County has begun to play better and I think they move on to the Regional Tournament in Morehead

Definitely the 7th, Ballard was #4, Eastern was #3, J-Town was #5, Seneca was #12 and Trinity was #19 in BGP's latest poll! That is a stacked region, whoever wins that is the favorite to get to the title game and get out the top half of the bracket IMO.

When I was a junior and senior I was the president of our school's pep club. My senior season, we had the best team in our school's history. We won 26 games-but lost in the first round of districts-during my senior year, our pep section for boys basketball was amazing. We had at least 50 strong each night-which is saying something considering we were a smaller school-we were organized, with signs, cheers and everyone either had their body painted or at the least, their face. That was about 8 years ago and now our pep section is quite pathetic, we have a good turnout crowd wise but our student pep section harldy ever eclipses 15 people even against our most hated rival!

It is an amazing feat that will probably never be seen in the 16th region again. They have to be one of the top two or three scoring trios in State History. I think the only trio in the 16th region that could have done this had they all stayed together and out of trouble would have been OJ, Billy Walker and Marques Dawson (I think that was his name, correct me if I am wrong) at Rose Hill, but obviously things did not work out and everyone went their separate ways.

I said I would give them their props if they could pull out both victories against two top ten teams. As I said in another thread, they played one of the toughest weeks for any team in the state this year and they deserve their respect. And FWIW, I never had a problem with any of the player on the team, just some fans. :thumb:

Elliott has thrown their hat into the ring now as a legitimate conteder, but to have Scott as the only absolute lock, when Holmes beat them head to head is a little puzzling. Holmes Scott Co Eastern Elliott are the four teams I think with the best chance to win state. I was down on EC all season, but this week was one of the toughest weeks for any team in the state this season and this week was a heck of step in the right direction.

Congratulations to the boys from Elliott County. Also congratulations to Ferguson, and the Faulkner brothers. The big 3 from EC will go down as one of the most prolific scoring trios in State History.

Yes, I think Scott County and Holmes will be 1 and 2 still, see Eta Rho's post and you will have your evidence.

I disagree, they may be competitive within their own region, but how many of the teams that make it to Morehead will be able to beat Elliott? The only way Elliott does not win the region is if they get beat by Morgan in the District Tournament IMO. That's what makes it such a weak region, there are no viable threats to unseating EC. Rose Hill will be very good in the next couple years as will East Carter, but this year. The 16th is at the bottom.

I agree, a team's entire resume should be looked at when doing these rankings, those teams that play in the tougher regions and are at the top should get the nod over a team from a weaker region that is undefeated in regional play. Those teams that play in tougher regions, play the top level teams and perform the best against the upper tier teams are the ones that deserve the top ten rankings. I have no problem with the top ten really. Elliott will have to be in major consideration for a top 5 slot if they beat Ballard Saturday. If they win decisively against the Bruins, I have no problem with them being as high as 3. If Ballard wins going away over EC, I also have no problem with them leap-frogging Eastern. The top 2 is pretty much set in stone barring a slip up by either team. IMO.

How so? Elliott is the only team with a shot to win a game in the state tournament from the 16th region. Every other team would lose by 20+ in the State Tournament IMO.

I'll agree with that, After Elliott County, the 16th takes a severe dip in terms of quality teams.

My bad
