I will take West Carter by 6, I think they are the second best team in the region-still a far cry from EC-but I see them making it to the Regional Final.

That second round matchup between Franklin Co. and Scott will be very entertaining to watch. I am definitely going to try and make the drive to Richmond to see that one!

Haha, I'd say he had some egg on his face after EC handled the Comets They're just kids, it's the beauty of student sections. When they are all together they are fearless, but if you get them on their own they go back to being kids again.

Like I said, the most lopsided 13 point victory in the history Kentucky High School Basketball. The score shocked the heck out of me when I turned on the radion on my wy home. I left with about 4 minutes left in the 3rd and the score was 61-31 Elliott.

I saw quite a bit of things from the WCHS student section, I think they had somethings directed towards parents, *cough* Dale *cough*, I also saw some pacifiers and things like that, I don't think any of the kids meant anything by the signs. But nevertheless, Elliott came out on top and I think West may tone it down if they meet Elliott in the regional final, considering the 13 point victory was one of the most lopsided victories in KY Basketball history.

This is a pretty weak field IMO. I'll take Elliott over West Carter in a rematch.

Thanks for the pics Panda, I wanted to go to the game tonight, but I made the drive to Grayson to see my Alma-Mater (West Carter) play in the 62nd district title. Great job Bulldogs. Holmes may not win with the flashiest of statistics, but they almost always get the job done!

I understand what you're saying, I guess that every team has their good and bad nights in any aspect of the game. Heck, Tim Tebow threw two interceptions in the National Title game and still led the Gators to victory. Not saying this performance will carry over to the Regional tournament, just saying if a night like tonight happens during the third week of March, there may be some problems. :thumb:

I am not being critical of them or questioning their ability to be a premier team in the state, but look at what happened to Memphis last season. They were up 9 with two minutes to go and lost the National Title game in OT. Had they made their free ones when they had the chance they would have been crowned the National Champs. You have to make free throws to beat the really good teams.

A very telling stat imo. Kind of reminds of a team like Memphis from last season. Highly ranked all season, record setting year but the easiest way to gets points does them in. Hopefully EC can cure their free-throw shooting woes before their date in Morehead next week. GR, for the Faulkners to be such good shooters-especially in their midrange game-why do you think they are below-average Free Throw shooters?

Yes, Jeremy did as well. He let some of his younger players play towards the end I believe. I left when it was 61-31, but listened to the post-game wrap up on Go Radio. Timmy Knipp, The Faulkners, Jon Ferguson, Colt Barnhill, Devin Kawada, Tyler Jackson, B.A. Oney, Aaron Rayburn, Taylor Webb, Fyffe and Dunn from Morgan were named to the All-Tournament Team.

Yes, West Carter went on a 34-17 run at one point. GoRadio, once you get on will you provide stats? It was a very sloppy game IMO. The highlight of the night for me was Timmy Knipp's 360 dunk in warm-ups. West came out pretty sloppy then came back from an 11-2 deficit to tie it at 14. Then Elliott went on a 47-17 run in about 15 minutes. Timmy was the best player by far on the floor tonight I don't know for sure, but he may have had a triple double

I think they have, either that, or they never were very good, they started out very very hot playing some weaker competition before Christmas-Raceland, Boyd, Brown, Betsy Layne and Lewis. Coach Webb is another coach from the 16th region that has fallen prey to weak scheduling; and I think it bites them in the behind tonight.

I agree, I think that, and West has peaked this season and has taken a down-turn since the January meeting with EC at Harold Holbrook West.

That was a great game. I think West could have won the region that season had they been able to beat Fairview. Daniel Barker wasn't much of an offensive threat at Point for West, but he was a good ball-handler, and defender. Casey and Michael Hollingsworth were both very good scorers and Daniel's younger brother Chris began to come into his own that year starting in the place of the injured Lance Lykins.

I would attack them right out of the gate on defense. Press them the length of the floor, attempt to create some turnovers and hope you can rattle their cages a little bit. Play fearless-not dirty-but play this game like this is your state title game. Not many people thought West could have gotten here in the pre-season-including myself-so try and prove them wrong. I would let Ethan, Evan and Ferguson get their points, that will happen regardless. What you can't let happen is for Timmy have 17 points and 10 boards, you also can't Chris Knipp have wide open looks because he will knock them down. None of West's players can over whelm you, but I think if you can create turnovers and stay out of foul trouble and you may have a shot. I still think it's a blowout, but if they want to have a chance at all. They need to do at least one of those.

That's how I feel, I don't think West has played very well since their game against Elliott in Olive Hill in the first part of January. Not trying to get any dialogue started I just think that people will be thinking this will be close-I just don't see it. Last year's West Team was a lot better than this years and they were handled by something like 30+ (?). I think it catches up to the Comets tonight in a big way.

West peaked in their second game against Elliott IMO. They will not be able to handle EC's defensive pressure and I say they win going away. Elliott 98-West 54

The 16th is weaker this season than I thought it would be. I really thought that East would be a legitimate player in the region this season. But the lack of a pure ball-handler and their hesitation to keep pounding it in to Barnhill eliminated those chance. Not even the most die-hard fans of other schools in the region could have thought Elliott would be beat. This has been the culmination of a great run for the school and the only game I could have seen them losing in the post season was their game Tuesday. I say the walk through the tournament and cruise on to LexVegas. I'll take Bath over Rowan, Elliott over West-20+-, Russell over Lewis and Fairview over Ashland. And Elliott over Fairview in the Region Final
