  1. I don't want to be called an Elliott County basher or anything, but they didn't impress me much tonight at all. Maybe it wasn't there night I don't know. I will say this though, you can tell that this team has been playing together a long time. They are molded together very well and play great team ball. I do think they rely on the 3-point shot to much and that might hurt them in the end. Everyone knows the saying, "You live by the 3 and you die by the 4". I think Elliott should play their style of play (uptempo). Its too late now to try and play a different style that their not used to. That would hurt them big time no matter who they play, because thats not Lion basketball. If they slow it down and grind it out I don't know how they can possibly win. They have big mismatch problems. It will take Elliott's best game of the season to win tomorrow morning. They have everything going against them, but they have alot of supporters rooting for them and backing them so who knows. Holmes is a tremendus team. They should not take Elliott lightly at any circumstance. When they commited all those turnovers in the third, Lex Cath couldn't capitalize or this could have been a totally different out come. If Elliott gets those opportunities that Lex Cath got, they will convert. Holmes did have some careless turnovers and showed they are vulnerable against a good press. So there not as perfect as some on here say. They need to take care off the ball and take advantage of their size and bang inside against Elliott. Holmes can run but can they run with Elliott? I don't know. Good luck to both teams tomorrow morning! I do believe who ever wins will bring home the state championship. I am a Holmes supporter so i have to go with the Bulldogs in a tough win! If Elliott wins, I will be rooting for them in the finals, they truely are the cinderalla team in the tournament. Good Luck!
  2. Holmes overall played great tonight! Up by 20 or so at half time with Pittman sitting out most of the half. Lex Cath was giving Holmes many open shots, you do not see that in the ninth! They did have a hiccup in the 3rd quarter, but I guess thats ok when you are up by 20 at half time and you can play tremendus defense! I saw Vee Sanford tonight, and I hate to say it, but I was not impressed at all. He can not shoot the ball very well and he still shoots alot. I thought in the first quarter he took to many quick shots that gave the ball right back to Holmes. He is very quick and athletic. When he drove he seemed at times a little out of control, and he took a lot of off balence shots. Good luck to Vee and Lex Cath! Good luck Holmes Bulldogs!! One step closer!
  3. This just made the top bracket very interesting IMO. I haven't paid much attention because after Eastern beat Corbin, I thought they would be in the finals. Now I'm clueless on who could come out of the top bracket!
  4. I do not know that much about either team except Shelby Valley beat them earlier in the year. I watched Elliott County's highlights from their last game, and boy they can shoot the ball!
  5. Wow I thought Eastern had a cake walk into the finals! Good win for Central! I don't know much about them were ranked in any of the top 25 polls this year? Just curious.
  6. Can someone please tell me how much a ticket is for this game and the Elliott/ Shelby Valley game?
  7. That dunk by Housely is good enough to be a top ten play on Sportscenter!
  8. Well obviously Gilespee thought these two would be tremendus players and wanted a commitment from them before any of the other schools snagged them. Euton jus hasn't developed into the player Gilespee thought he would be. Zollo is still a sophmore and still has time to develop. I agree about the offer ant the intention to take if off the table. It would be better for Uk and Euton if he doesn't play IMO. Euton would be better off playing some where, where he contribute, and I just don't see that place at UK. Good luck to Euton where ever he ends up!
  9. I do believe they were trying to run an offense and were trying to look for open shots, but Holmes defense was making that very hard for Boone. Thats what I meant to say in my intial post. I don't at all believe Boone was trying to run the clock or stall.
  10. Lets not forget that Euton and Zollo only verbally commited to UK. No letter of intent was signed, so as far as I know technically UK can take those offers of the table. Correct me if I am wrong.
  11. Lets not forgot Holmes did win the game. They must have been slightly better because they put more points on the scoreboard than Boone did. Boone did play great defense, I wouldn't say that Holmes was clueless. They got some shots, Boone did a good job of stopping Holmes from penetrating. Both teams shot poorly tonight due to the tight defense each team played.
  12. I know Scott County was missing phares, I am really suprized with this outcome. I saw Scott County's 45 point win against Campbell County about a month ago, and they looked like the top team in the state. IMO I think even without Phares they should still have won this game. Great win for Lex Cath.
  13. Not the most exciting game to watch. Great win for Holmes and i wish them luck down at rupp! Ricardo Johnson is finally stepping up to be Holmes main guy, I think he should of done that from the begining of the season. He is going to be the key, he is Holmes best player and IMO a matchup problem for every team in the state. If there is anyone that can shut him down please let me know! Every one keeps dogging on their offense, and yes there offense doesn't seem as good a could be. I think they just need a break out offensive game (perhaps first round at the sweet sixteen) and then I think the offensive will start firing on all cylinders. Holmes has to be the best defensive team in the state. I noticed many times NCC and Boone would pass the ball back and forth along the perimeter, not knowing what to do against Holmes size and length. You would think a team like Holmes with all the dunkers they have, they would be more motivated on offense, but ill take their motivation on defense anyday. To everyone on here who is wishing Holmes to crash and burn, Holmes is still winning and is once again one step closer to winning a state title! Good luck Holmes Bulldogs!
  14. IMO D.Johnson and J.Johnson are Holmes best on the ball defenders other than Rico. Rice is very long and athletic, so that wouldn't be bad idea also. I don't think Holmes should really worry about defense, that is their strength, and I don't see Holmes having any problems matching up with Boone!
  15. You hope Boone pulls an upset, because Elliott doesn't want to see Holmes down at state, atleast you don't!:thumb:
  16. I believe Holmes won the game because of Rico in the 4th quarter, he took over the game. NCC had a great gameplan and kept it close pretty much the whole game. Any one on here who doesn't think that foul was intentional, is crazy! You can't have 2 players slam into you on the fastbreak. They slammed Pittman into the padded part of the goal which is like ten feet behind the basket. Neither one of the NCC players looked like they were going for the ball they went for Pittman's midsection! That was an easy call for the officails, and yes it was a turning point in the game, but that was the appropiate call.
  17. Is Jamel playing college any where next year? I'm sure he can play somewhere.
  18. Ok, thanks for clearing that up for me, I had no idea, thats why I asked.:thumb: Does Lex Cath have some big guys to compete with Scott County's big guys? I know they have Sanford and he is real good.
  19. I hope Ricardo Johnson steps up and dominates, NCC has no one that can guard him! I'm gonna say Holmes by 10!
