Brutal schedule, admire the fact that Beechwood has committed themselves to play freshmen football, unlike a number of teams who wont play freshmen ball because they only have 25 kids on the roster.

Glad to see their numbers improve and hope they are back in the freshmen league next year. The question is are they going to field a team consistently for the freshmen league or only when they think they have the numbers? Beechwood for example only has 19 kids on their freshmen roster, yet they have made the commitment to freshmen football, for that matter last years undefeated team only had 25 kids on the roster, 5 of which were 8th graders. I would love to see all of the high schools field a freshmen team, although competitive it is still a great developmental tool for high school players, I'm afraid that some kids that could benefit, and in turn benefit their varsity team a couple of years later, will get lost in the shuffle of the Froshmore league. Hate to see that happen.

Great win for Highlands, they did the state and our region proud. IMO if UC is a powerhouse in FL. they have issues! From an outsiders viewpoint they looked disorganized, undisciplined and very much out of shape! Highlands looked like Highlands, well coached, crisp and in great shape. Congrats.

I did get to see them play and you are correct, they had a lot of speed, but there is a huge difference between 4.5 and 4.7, I'm definitely no expert, but my guess those speed merchants at Scott Co. were probably in the 4.6 range, and that is plenty fast for KY football.

Congrats to Lex, saw him at the UC camp in early June and he looked great, the Sycamores are getting a good one.

Schriever, (spelling) only gets honorable mention....seriously? I don't have a dog in this fight, and I'm not a CovCath fan, but the kid is signed with Louisville, the same Louisville team that made it to the College World Series and he only gets honorable mention....a joke at best! Of course lets not forget the Norton kid from BBHS, good enough for the bigs, but not good enough for KY all state....I guess all those kids in front of him were drafted in the 12 rounds prior to him....embarrassing!

I think you are correct, he played middle school ball at Summit View, he is going to help Dixie, the kid is big and physical.

Thanks, just across the river from us, gives me some incentive to catch a few of their games in the next few years.

Good assessment Coach, Frankfort is always dangerous and well coached and expect this year to be no exception. Is the young man who played QB for you last year going to play college ball, I enjoyed watching that young man play.

I don't necessarily disagree with you, BW does have kids from out of district who pay tuition, and although BW has an outstanding academic reputation I am not going down that road, of the 8 tuition kids that are on BW's roster I am almost certain their reason for coming was football, the academics are just a bonus. However in the case of SK, they are in the Kenton County school district, which has open enrollment, which SK benefits from. Personally I don't care, I think kids should attend where they want, but on last years SK team 3 of their starters lived in Scott territory. We are splitting hairs here, I hope both SK and BW have banner years and play at Western the first weekend in December.

Not sure where you are going with this Ram, just because you go to bigger school doesn't make you a better player, but you sure have a larger pool to choose from, not to mention you can run a two platoon system. SK did beat BW last year, fair and square, it was a great game...but when the players go into the stands to high five the crowd after beating a 1A school, I think it shows a lack of class and respect, of course their head coach not acknowledging any of the BW players or coaches after the game...well lets say the apple didn't fall far from the tree. Maybe I don't get it, maybe I never will, but you weren't there to see it with your own two eyes.

Obviously you haven't seen BW play Ludlow, Bellevue or Dayton, not one time did they "beat their chests" as you put it, as a matter of fact Rash had penalty flags thrown on a couple of scores in one of those games because he did not want to show up the other team. Now, if BW were to beat Mayfield...let the chest beating begin!

6'1" 185 lbs, not sure how fast he is, but I haven't seen anyone catch him from behind, would hate to estimate his 40 time, they seem to be to subjective. Runs with an attitude and is hard nosed. Good thing for Stringer is BW will not have to lean on him to carry the mail to much, they have Thomas and Talley in the backfield as well, but I look for Stringer to get 10-12 carries a game, also wouldn't be shocked to see him in slot so he can play in space....I think he and England are the class of the sophomore RB's. Almost forgot the sophomore back from Dixie, cant recall his name, but he is pretty darn good as well.

I saw both Ross and Sowards at the UC Friday night lights camp, both represented themselves and Ryle very well, not sure what the rest of the O line looks like, but if they are close to these two some large holes will be opened for whomever is toting the rock. Both of those young men looked great against really good competition.

Great list VOR, one you need to add to the BW list is Riley McKown, DT, the kid started as a soph last year and is ready for a breakout season. Most don't pay much attention to interior defensive lineman, but he is one to watch for, good size, good strength, and quick off the line of scrimmage. BW will also have a number of Jr's that will have a huge impact on their season, Studer, Talley, Stokes and the Bright twins just to mention a few.

They do have a Slusher and he's pretty good as well, in another post you mentioned Jarvis, almost forgot about that young man, he is a load, I remember watching him back in the day in the NKYFL...he was a beast.

The only point I will disagree with you on is when you said no other freshmen running back looked nearly as good, I can say with certainty that the Stringer kid from BW was every bit his equal, and if you saw the Championship game you will confirm. Other than that the England kid is very talented and if he continues along he will ascend to great heights.
