The following teams will play a froshmore schedule:

So I assume any team who has a varsity game scheduled with the above teams, will play someone else at the JV level. Not all teams listed above will play a JV schedule.

Scott, a 5A school, can't field a JV and a Freshmen schedule? :idunno:

Some of these teams do not have enough Frosh and Sophs listed on their roster to form a team so that should be interesting.

Not sure... I know Holmes isn't playing a jv schedule. They will play froshmore only.

Looks like a direct relationship between what they play and sub-par football programs. Not in every case, but most.

They probably could, but they'd only have 15-20 freshman. Not enough to play a legitimate freshman team. They did play a freshman schedule until last year. This years 8th grade group (which is now 2-0 after beating Cov Cath and Campbell County) is the first group that has come from the new Taylor Mill Eagle program, and is almost 40 strong. I would say there is a good chance they field a freshman team next year. Now that a feeder is in place, numbers should continue to get better.

I would also say there is a correlation to those schools that have abundant and strong feeder programs and those who do not or are in the developmental phase of them.

Glad to see their numbers improve and hope they are back in the freshmen league next year. Beechwood for example only has 19 kids on their freshmen roster, yet they have made the commitment to freshmen football, for that matter last years undefeated team only had 25 kids on the roster, 5 of which were 8th graders.

I would love to see all of the high schools field a freshmen team, although competitive it is still a great developmental tool for high school players, I'm afraid that some kids that could benefit, and in turn benefit their varsity team a couple of years later, will get lost in the shuffle of the Froshmore league. Hate to see that happen.

Mayfield can't field a freshman team. They had 30 8th graders last year on their team and they were pretty dang good but for some reason the herd gets culled.

It's probably going to be numbers related. I really don't have a problem with the Froshmore decision. When you've got less than 20 it's hard to practice (unless you go with the varsity), and you need to have some depth. The middle school program has about 60, all of which are 7th and 8th graders (only a handful of 6th graders, as most of them are playing with the youth team), so numbers do look very good. Also if the Varsity and Middle School programs do have successful years, numbers are bound to continue to improve.
