  1. When my daughter was younger there were times she brought home camp information carrying the "blue chip" title that she got from her coach. At first I thought she had been indentified and selected to attend a special camp. Come to find out everybody got the same camp information. I have some friends who are at the college level give the same warning about some "blue chip" camps. It does not always mean that the girls attending or the instruction offered is any different than some other camps not carrying that title. There are many excellent camps that do not use that title. Do not simply focus on the title to determine the quality of the camp.
  2. Coach Summitt's four day camp is around $500. Most of the weekend Elite camps are around $225-$250. There is a high exposure/blue chip camp in Louisville in July that is around $375. I have found that you need to be careful of the term "blue chip". Sometimes it is used to give a false impression of the level of the camp.
  3. My daughter attended Coach Summitt's camp in Knoxville last year. It was unbelievably well organized and Coach Summitt and her staff were very involved. She had a great experience. There were over 700 girls at the camp. She will be attending their elite camp this June which is a shorter more intense experience. She also attended Coach Walz's Elite Camp at U of L over a weekend last June as well. There were very small numbers so there was great one on one attention. He ran the sessions like he runs his regular D1 practices. She said that it was the most intense practices she had ever experienced but she loved every minute of it and learned a great deal. I would expect there will be larger numbers at his camp this year since it his second year in Louisville.
  4. Close game in the first half. SK 36 Scott 30. Simon is the real deal. They wore Scott down in the secong half. Simon rotated three post players on Tibbs the whole game. She has to play the whole game for Scott. They definately held her down, but it took double and triple teaming to do it. Tolliver is outstanding. She plays hard and can hurt you from long range or attacking the basket.
  5. Madison Central 65 Dixie 60 Madison Central led at halftime by 10. Dixie battled back in the second half and got even but could not get over the hump. Madison Central made some key free throws late to ice the game. The Lady Colonels were close and just needed a couple of breaks to go their way.
  6. Conner 55 Scott 46 final Scott played them tough all night and even led 42-41 about half way through the 4th quarter but let another one slip away. They had to foul down the stretch and Conner put it away. Too many turnovers at key times.
  7. A miserable night for the Lady Eagles made a little nicer with these great photos. The Tibbs girl had her hands full but battled until the end.
  8. Simon Kenton's defense will be too much for Campbell Co. Simon Kenton has so many different ways to beat you. Simon Kenton by 12
  9. Northern Kentucky should be back on schedule. The problem now becomes rescheduling the games cancelled and getting them in over the next three weeks leading up to district play. I know there are teams who will have some 4 game weeks to get them in.
  10. St Pat 66 Scott 61 final St Pat out hussled them from start to finish and scrapped and clawed their way back from an 8 point deficit in the 4th quarter to get the win. Scott had a great third quarter and turned a 1 point halftime deficit into an 6-8 point lead. In the end way too many turnovers for Scott and could not seal the deal.
  11. Scott vs St. Pat is rescheduled for tonight (Saturday) 6:30pm and 8pm at Scott.
  12. They are still not sure whether this game is still on for Friday night. If it is, any thoughts.
  13. Boone Co. matches up well against Conner. They have the quickness to match up with Long from Conner. Conner will begin to miss Devin Beasley more and more especially against teams that can apply consistant pressure. This will be a great game. It will be interesting to see how the days off with no practice will affect the teams.
  14. Yes she did. Scott hit two free throws with 1 second left to go up 54-49 and she threw in a three from 3/4 court for the final score.
  15. Is this the correct score? On the KHSAA scoreboard they have Dixie 60 Conner 56.
  16. Scott 54 Mason Co. 52 Scott built a big lead and almost lost it down the stretch. Mason Co. battled back and almost pulled it out.
  17. Conner really played inspired basketball and hung tough the entire game. Highlands did not play well, but they find ways to win.
  18. Tibbs ended up scoring 23, but Dixie did a great job collapsing a 2-3 zone totally around her and making it extremely difficult to get the ball inside. Scott seemed to have trouble adjusting to the zone. Dixie also hit 31/40 from the free throw line which was another difference in the game.
  19. I think it is between 2400 and 2500 points. She might have a shot.
  20. Lauren Tibbs is a sophomore at Scott High School in Northern Kentucky (10th region) She just scored her 1000th career point this afternoon. 6'3" post player with a very bright future. She is averaging 25 points a game and 11 rebounds a game.
  21. Lauren Tibbs scored her 1000th career point at Scott High School this afternoon early in their game vs. Dixie. Congratulations Lauren on this great accomplishment as a sophomore.
  22. The thing that I have noticed about Lauren is her work ethic. She knows that there is still alot of work to do to continue to improve. She stays after practice most days to shoot. I understand that she works with a private coach on a regular basis focusing on her post moves and she has been working with a trainer on strength training since early fall. Her AAU team played about 50 games last year and she saw some great competition. I know that she will continue to work hard to continue to make the improvements she needs. It will be interesting to continue to watch her development. She is only a sophomore.
  23. Good luck Devin. I know this is a decision that the family has been debating for awhile. Devin is a warrior and I know gave it her best to try to play through it. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.
  24. Lauren has worked very hard in the off season. She plays AAU ball with Cutter Hoopsters and has really worked hard on her strengthening and fine tuning her game. She still has work to do, but has a great attitude about being coached and working to get better. She is two points shy of her 1000th career point at Scott.
