Each coach in the four regions nominated two players. A list of nominated players was then sent to the coaches who voted for the players. The voting was done in late spring - before summer ball. So, really, the coaches from each of the regions voted for the teams. Pretty diplomatic process. I can think of quite a few players worthy of being selected that were not. The 7th region, especially, has tons of quality senior talent!

Thomas Jackson is an outstanding point guard. Richard Kennedy will be a senior and he is seasoned. Tim Jackson - another Senior - is steady. Daniel (forgot last name) and Desmond Dorsey are two sophomores (really good ones) that will be counted upon heavily. I understand Sam Tollivar is enrolling at another school. They Will miss Cosby (transferred to prep school) and Reeves (6'10" post player that graduated - Texas Arlington). I doubt they will be as good as the past few years.

Seneca over J-town by 2. Seneca had only 7 players. They are good ones, though!

As long as Kobe Bryant doesn't enroll at another 7th region school this year, the Eagles will be the favorite to repeat as 7th region champs. Really good senior guard and an outstanding junior class should make Eastern the favorite the next two years.

Manual will have Nikolic in the middle. At 6'8 or so, he should be the tallest center in the 7th region. He's got decent skills for a big guy and he's improved. Sean Samsal (sp?) is an exceptional shooter with some improved point guard skill. Rumor earlier was that he was moving to Indiana. Andre Gray is the most under rated soph-to-be in the state. Mark my word on that. He's talented, plays hard, and makes things happen. IMO he was the 2nd best freshman in Louisville last year (Harrison was 1st). I'm not sure if Phil Bond Jr. graduates or not. He's a pretty steady guard.

EKU has one Kentucky kid on last year's entire roster. He was a walk-on that played one year at IU-Southeast before transferreing to EKU. He did not get in a game at EKU. Murray State also has one Kentucky player on its roster. Says a little something about how Ky kids are perceived by DI recruiters...

Seems like a bad weekend for tryouts...A lot of Jr's are busy on the AAU circuit. There are, however, a lot of really good Jr's. Is it by invitation, or will there be 50 Jr's show up at Spalding?

Doesn't Seneca return everybody? They are probably a top 20 team. It will be another 7th region dogfight!

I have heard Holmes (for Tolliver). He has family from the area and lived there earlier in his life, I understand.

So, what is left at J-twon that makes them a contender? Thomas Jackson is a D1 player. Tim Jackson, and Richard Kennedy are still there but not all reion players. Word is that Desmond Dorsey is not going to be there and Sam Tolliver is going to a top program in Northern Ky. If that pans out, I don't think J-town is anywhere near where they have been the past three years..I think that Eastern is hands down the favorite. Male, Seneca, J-town and Ballard would round out the top five in the 7th region.

This transfer, has been said to be in the works for a year now. I think the Trinity folks had a hunch that Chris (Harrison) would be moving along after his freshman year. I understand he has some DI offers. Will that move Sewell to point guard for the Rocks? Harrison was a really good player for them last season. He had a huge game against Eastern very late in the year.

Jefferson County public schools cannot practice for weather related school cancelations. However, the private schools in Jefferson County can practice at coaches' descretion...Thus, Atherton, Seneca and Waggener (who have not practiced in over a week) play St. X, Trinity and CAL (who have practiced or played 3 out of the last 4 days) play tonight (Tuesday).

I saw him (Morrow) verbally attack one official at halftime and another at the scoretable. No Techs, though. Don't understand officials in the 7th taking it - looks bad on them. Thomas Jackson is the man!!! That kid is going to be really good for some college team!

I went to this game after the Manual/Ballard game. I sat in front of a couple of college scouts there to watch Mosely and Cosby. Moore lead most of the game by 3 to 6 points. It was very physical - lots of pushing and hand checking going on. Moore had more than one chance to put the chargers away. Reeves - J-town's 6'10 center - was the difference IMO. If I dhad not read all the hype about Cosby, I wouldn't have even noticed he was playing. Others must see something I don't. He was the 4th or 5th best guard on the floor last night. Guess it was just an "off" game for the IU prospect. Mosely, Reginald Breeden, Thomas Jackson and Richard Kennedy all played really well for their teams. Fun game to watch!

According to Seneca's roster published in the LIT program, all of the players they played tonight were sophomores and juniors. I don't think they played a senior at all in that game. Their two leading scorers tonight were both sophomores. Don't think they are quite at J-town and Eastern's level but if they shoot well...it's possible. I bet Seneca and Ballard will be fun to watch!!! South Laurel played very efficient tonight. Coach Denny said that The Cardinals played real well in the loss. They may have under-estimated their opponent a little tonight. South's schedule is pretty brutel in the next couple of weeks - starting friday with Madison Central.

I saw that Yorell Shemwell's name was not in the box score. He is the catalyst to their team and the only guard that can distribute and score. I would hate to see Owensboro's team without him - that would be ugly. I bet they average two 3-point attempts a game, anyway. Good confidence builder and good win for CCHS!

Walton faces Seneca in the Lloyd Tournament today (Tuesday) at 4:30.

The finals of this tournament was played at 2:45 today. The best two teams here is Holmes and Seneca. Holmes will skate through the rest of this field. they are in charge. The Holmes vs. Seneca game was really fun to watch - great dunks and great outside shooting and team work by Seneca. Holmes shot 33 free throws in this game and Seneca shot ten. Holmes physically outmatched their opponent today. They will do the same the rest of the way.

Goodwin and Davis are 6'5 & 6'6 but play much bigger. I understand Goodwin never played more than 3 or 4 minutes of varsity until this season - unbelievable! He is a stud. OHS has three realy good players and two of them are low post players (other is guard - Shemwell). Moore has three parameter players that can drop 30 on any team in a given night - as a matter of fact - one of them averages over 30 a game. This would be a contest where if they played 10 times - each would win five. This one just went OHS's way. OHS is the best in the 3rd and Moore is one of the best in the seventh. As a matter of fact - I think Moore and Seneca may be the two highest scoring teams in the seventh region so far this year - and both have played quality opponents.

CAL has two real good players in Henderson and Lopez. They are in the same district and J-town barely got by them in the first district tournament game las season. Does anybody know where the game was played or if CAL zoned them. If J-town has any weak spot, it's probably parameter shooting without Cosby, yet... J-Town is ligit top 5.

Good win for Nelson County! Southern was coming off a huge win over Fairdale.
