Seneca advances to take on Ballard on Friday night.

 

South Laurel back home on Friday with a regular season game against Madison Central.

Yep another tough test when friday comes around and then add a road game against a much-rested Knox Central squad Tuesday.

South got real tired late in the third quarter and especially in the fourth, and it showed on defense. Seneca was 22-of-29 from the field in the second half, most of it layups. The Cardinals just couldn't keep the game at a manageable pace. Four players on each team were in double figures.

They looked pretty darned good. Nice and unselfish — half their buckets came by way of assists. They were relentless in attacking the basket, and were pretty good shooting the three. I don't think they have the size to threaten J'town or Eastern in the 7th, but they're a nice dark horse club that can be dangerous if they play the way they did tonight come tourney time. They could stand to improve their halfcourt defense.

According to Seneca's roster published in the LIT program, all of the players they played tonight were sophomores and juniors. I don't think they played a senior at all in that game. Their two leading scorers tonight were both sophomores. Don't think they are quite at J-town and Eastern's level but if they shoot well...it's possible. I bet Seneca and Ballard will be fun to watch!!!

South Laurel played very efficient tonight. Coach Denny said that The Cardinals played real well in the loss. They may have under-estimated their opponent a little tonight. South's schedule is pretty brutel in the next couple of weeks - starting friday with Madison Central.

I find it hard to believe they would underestimate Seneca.Even if you think the Litkenhous Ratings are garbage,you should find some respect for an opponent who has a better rating and is a top 5 team in the 7th region.

They gave Holme's a very good game. I'd venture to say Seneca is a top 15 team in the state, maybe top 10

I didn't get the impression from talking with SL coaches beforehand they underestimated Seneca. If anything, they were concerned about getting blown out if they got into a running game.
