school is cancelled for the day. Are your coaches allowed to run an organized practice, of can they only practice when school is in session?

I remember from 03-05 we always had a few snow/ice days at Mason Co and we always went into practice. It was usually around 10 and lasted till 12 but we never got days off, except sunday. Didnt really bother me much though and I think I liked those practices better than right after school.

I am pretty sure it is the coaches decision, at least it was when I was in school, and I only remember practice getting cancelled once and it wasn't weather related.

The school I am at hasn't practiced since last Monday. The administration won't allow practice on weather days were there is no school.

I think this is the same rule for Kenton County Schools too.

Jefferson County public schools cannot practice for weather related school cancelations. However, the private schools in Jefferson County can practice at coaches' descretion...Thus, Atherton, Seneca and Waggener (who have not practiced in over a week) play St. X, Trinity and CAL (who have practiced or played 3 out of the last 4 days) play tonight (Tuesday).

I believe Fayette Co. used to be this way, but I believe they changed their policies if I am not mistaken. I think its a silly rule because school could be cancelled because of bad weather in the morning and by noon it could be 50 degrees and have no weather-related danger at all. I believe the decision should be left up to the coach to use good judgement.

I believe that in the OC, it is up to the coach.

Jefferson County is Killer with this stuff. Look back to the fall. The only real issue was people had no power. No dangerous roads, nothing. Yet they still could not practice.

If the parents can get the kids there, then they should be able to practice. There should not be a penalty if a kids parents cannot make arringements for him to get to practice.
