I think this points out a bigger problem. There are quite a few games that could end up being this type of score every year. Why are these teams playing? I understand district seeding but why cant a team like ft. knox forfeit their seed? This is a wasted night for both teams, whether the coach of the dominant team takes it easy or not. The kids get nothing either way. There has to be a better way to do this..

I know a lot of people don't like coach Mudd...but I for one have always liked and respected him. He's gotten a lot out of his talent, and always seems to put a good product on the floor....but he lost a lot of respect in this one.

5th vs 7th in Round 1......that sets up to potentially be a game of #1 vs #2 with Marion and Manual. Don't wanna miss that one!

Brown finished with 19. She played well especailly considering she has been sick all week. Mcdowell and Cann scored 11 and 8 while Yeaste and Mckee added 5 and 2. I know south was led by Whitfield and Mcguffin. Not sure of the exact totals but I think those two scored 29 of the South 40. By our count, South forced 19 AC turnovers while Anderson was only able to turn South over 11 times. Cann and Brown led the Anderson rebounding with 11 and 9 respectively. I know AC was worried about South hurting them on the boards and while South got their share of offensive rebounds, Anderson did pretty well. Anderson was able to offset the -8 in the turnover catagory by rebounding and being efficent on offense. If these two do meet again, Anderson will certainly be hoping to even up the turnover catagory...while south will surely want to be more patient in their half court sets.

it was. Anderson slowly built a 6-9 point lead, only to watch south repeatidly make a run to cut it back to a possesion or two. In the end, Anderson made its free throws and put South away. Exciting game. Something tells me these two teams will meet again.....

I might be a little biased but I think Anderson has the best 4/5 combo in the region...and im not sure it's even close. If andersons guards can keep up their steady play they are going to be a tough out. That being said, I still think South Oldham will be the team to beat in the regional tournament.

im going with shelby as well. I think they have the best player and the experience and shooting from the guards will be too much of Oldham.

Still waiting on South to come around... IMO they have the most ready talent in the region. Good teams have a way of coming together towards the end of the year, so if they can put their early season struggles behind them I think they may still be the team to beat come tournament time. Huge game on Friday night with Anderson County. For some strange reason The girls game is in AC and the boys teams are playing each other at South. Maybe this would be better as a boy/girl....but what do I know. haha. Anyway, South spanked Anderson over the summer but a lot has happened with both these teams since then. Right now, Anderson is sitting atop most of the polls in the 8th while south is close behind. Could this be a preview of the regional final??

Not trying to sound bad...but why would boone or ryle want to tie up their schedule obligations with so many smaller schools? Im not saying winning that conference isn't a nice accomplishment, but generally speaking the teams that play aren't at the top of the region. Obviously this isn't always true.... If I was Walton and thought I had a team that could win the 8th region over the next several years I would look at all options to make that happen, including strengthing the schedule.

If I was at Walton I would be getting out of those obligations. If Walton truely wants to compete for 8th region titles over the next several years then they need to beef up their schedule. The top teams in the 8th all play MUCH tougher schedules. I dont see how playing in the conference will help walton reach their "higher" goals....

Walton is the class of the A schools right now. Will their lack of experience against the top competition hurt them in the tourny??

an expected result. Turnovers are the key stat whenever you play South Oldham IMO.

To me it seems like North Oldham may be the Spencer County of a year ago. In a district dominated by the same two teams over the years that "third" team finally breaks through. Just like last year when Shelby was a little down, Oldham is a little down this year. Spencer was playing better then ever a year ago and got the huge upset in the district first round. Im not saying North will beat Oldham in the district....just that things seem to be similar to that situation in the 30th a year ago.

Im not an Oldham Countian, but I'll go with Oldham in a very close ball game. I think these two will meet again with a little more on the line later in the year....

I would say if you stuck Simon, Walton, Anderson, and South Oldham in a hat and drew one out you would have just as good a chance as anyone of guessing the 8th region champ. That's not to say that another team couldn't win it...I certainly think there are a few more that can....just that those 4 seem to have seperated themselves somewhat.

final. Nice road win against a nice 12th region team. Brown paced a balanced lady bearcat effort with 15 points.

I like Gayheart, but the preseason player rankings have proven to be not worth the paper they were written on. There are quite a few younger players on her level or better IMO. Still love Dixon, but I think Wells from Shelby is the best player in the region right now. Although it's probably close with her and Dixon, give me Wells. After that there are a bunch of players I would put on that next level, including Gayheart. It will be interesting to see what the player rankings look like in a few years. I think by the time these young underclassman become upper classman they could jockey around several times.

Almost every year it's a huge advantage to go the regional as a District winner. Getting a runner-up is a huge advantage. However, I think this season is different. With 6 or 7 different teams claiming legit shots at the title, Im just not convinced it's all that big of a deal this season. Obviously everybody want to win their district. It's a nice accomplishment for any team. But the difference in District winners and runner ups this season may be closer then any I can ever remember. MOST of the top teams in the 8th do play each other. I know Anderson would love to play Simon and Walton but neither team seems to be interested in scheduling with them. Same goes for the Owens, Carrolls etc of the region. I personally think the 8th may be shaken up quite a bit whenever the KHSAA realigns (2012 i think).
