Game is part of a boy/girl doubleheader Friday at Oldham County HS.

 

North is off to its best start in school history...

 

Oldham is the highest-scoring team in the region...

North has a solid starting five, but their bench will have to make some contributions if Oldham can force the uptempo game they favor.

 

Turnovers were an issue for North in their loss to Walton-Verona; those will need to come down as Oldham will press, press, press.

 

On the other hand, Oldham has to stop the dribble penetration and control the glass.

 

Oldham leads the series, 5-1, with their lone loss to North coming on 12/20/05 in a tournament at South Oldham. North Oldham won, 58-53.

Oldham (8-7) looking for their 6th straight win in the series... (they lead the series, 5-1)

 

North Oldham (9-4) is just two wins away from tying their most wins in a season... if they beat Oldham and upset South Oldham in Goshen on 1/20/10 (tall order), they could set a new school record for wins in a season with a victory over a rebuilding Spencer County team on 1/23/10 in Goshen.

 

In looking at the schedule, North has a real shot at 17 wins (or more) this year.

Gonna go with the upset and pick North Oldham.

I would guess that you're probably right (that these two will meet again later). South looks very likely to win the top seed in the 29th, and Trimble is almost certainly the four seed. That means North and Oldham would play in the first round of the 29th tournament this year - which will be held at North Oldham HS.

Are the Lady Mustangs quickly becoming "The Little Engine That Could" this season? On one hand, their schedule has been and is light, but on the other hand, their mindset is now such that they believe they can win. One might make a case that Oldham Co. ought to pound North, but it is certainly possible to argue that a Lady Mustang upset of OC might be in the cards. However, the site of the game may play the ultimate role in the outcome, though, and that is certainly in Oldham's favor.

To me it seems like North Oldham may be the Spencer County of a year ago. In a district dominated by the same two teams over the years that "third" team finally breaks through.

 

Just like last year when Shelby was a little down, Oldham is a little down this year. Spencer was playing better then ever a year ago and got the huge upset in the district first round.

 

 

Im not saying North will beat Oldham in the district....just that things seem to be similar to that situation in the 30th a year ago.

I will take OC. Too much pressure for the Lady Mustangs.
