Big win for Lady Pioneers! Beginning to put some pieces together the last few games. Beginning to scrap when they need to!:fight: Great defense, I don't know if any Highland players were double #'s and Kayla Smith (SK) has been playing real well even if she fouled out late tonight. Both SK guards making teams pay.

Yes, a shooting clinic. Everyone in on the shot tonight. Would love to see a great game tomorrow against HIGHLANDS. 7:00 PM at DIXIE I believe.

Agressive is what SK needs to play against. Sometimes they (SK) IMO are just about the, "Nicest best team around." I say that with affection! I actually saw some "GRIT" in them tonight. They physicall scrapped for this game tonight and did the right things at the right time. Once in awhile you need to push back. They'll need that at region and hopefully beyond. The officials IMO let it get a touch away from them. At one point I thought you could see "blue smoke"from the chainsaws. :lol:

In Kenton County School Distr. Simon Kenton and Dixie have received new complexs and they were approved through phases in new building throughout the district. I would hope Scott is in the next phase.

Just checked in on this great topic. I run a MS Athltic Dept. and I can tell you this...CLOSE TRYOUTS and PRACTICES! I tell coaches "OPEN AT YOUR OWN RISK!" Today everyone is an AAU STAR! Just ask their parents "myself included." Remember this, ALL coaches want to win. Therefore, they want the best players on the floor. It is a schools SITE BASE responsibility to address eligibility issues and the coaches to coach within the established additional boundries. All the discussion about driving time, just checking in etc. is rec. league! Once a student athlete reaches MS and beyond, the best policy is coaches OPEN DOOR but refusal to dicuss playing time and CLOSED PRACTICES!:flame: As for some discussion about Coach Elkus....He has his hands full taking over a (hoping not to offend) a THUG program. The way they treated each other in the past is not good. If parents wanted to be involved in that program they should have gotten involved before Elkus not after his staff begins cleaning it up. I know "zero" about coaching a player in basketball (why I should not be allowed in my daughters practices:jump:) but DHHS is better than the product they have put on the court the last several years. I can gaurentee Elkus will always do the right thing. He is nicer than me I would have considered a "Walton Verona of this year or even better a Simon Kenton move of 5-6 years ago for tha program." Quality decisions make a quality product and even better quality young athetes.!

:jump:I have to believe after this weekend MANUAL and MONTGOMERY are 1 - 2 in state. Butler, SK, E-Town, LCA, CAL.....etc could all make runs but those two looked outstanding!

BAD: Butler was lucky to escape Simon Kenton this weekend and then beat around the rest of the tourney. GOOD: OKAy, I'm an SK fan and I think their showing at LCA tourney was impressive since they have two starters still healing on bench. Should have beat Butler and lost by 8 to E'Town on a horrible 1st QTR.

You are right. I am sure they won the third and played pretty much point to point in the fourth. I think CT felt the pressure a little early on for that record. They still look a little rough as a team. I think they are still building the chemistry.

I am so very sorry for the loss of this special young woman. Her family and community are in my prayers. DITTO 24smom!!!

Today watched SK drop to Butler 46-42 in a great game at Lex. Cath. Tourney. Butler looked very relieved to walk out with this one. SK is still playing with injuries healing and players returning. One Figggins twin (Sr.) working back in and Brown (Jr.) expected back in Jan. When all is healthy they should be even better. Their D is smothering. Keep an eye on them. IMO today was a big view of how they could be state sleeper. Cannot believe they are not in top 20! :confused:

Miles Simpson (Simon Kenton) deserved a notch higher. Plays both ways. Team in state championship. Just thinking out loud.

Spritz will go when spritz is ready to go. Summit View and Twenhofel have been feeding some quality kids in bulk the past two years to SK. Twenhofel is 100% feed to SK and Summit View is 50% to SK. Those two midde schools about 45 - 8 combined in the NKMSFL or some silly number. There were some really talanted kids in the two prior seasons at SK. Chad Lawrence was QB at Summit View and I think the last time he lost a game was 7th grade to Twenhofel. I am realistic and do believe the bracket helped them this season. NKYFL - SK LIONS had hand full of top athletes that will also attend SK above and beyond the middle schools. PS: OE won't go away anytime soon in Kenton.
