liveblue4ever Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 Final. Both teams played extremely hard tonight. It looked more like a football game for awhile in the 2nd half and then got back under control. Ponzer hits 2 late free throws to put the Pioneers up by 3. Tolliver had 19 and Smith had 10 points 11 or 12 boards and 6 blocks for the Pioneers. I believe Sandfoss had 20 for NCC.
NCC06 Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 Sounds like good effort for the Breds. They have played a brutal schedule this year and I think that it will pay off come regionals and even next week when they play in All A state.
ebrown5606 Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 Agressive is what SK needs to play against. Sometimes they (SK) IMO are just about the, "Nicest best team around." I say that with affection! I actually saw some "GRIT" in them tonight. They physicall scrapped for this game tonight and did the right things at the right time. Once in awhile you need to push back. They'll need that at region and hopefully beyond. The officials IMO let it get a touch away from them. At one point I thought you could see "blue smoke"from the chainsaws.
Ranger Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 It had certainly been awhile since I had been to a girls game where the refs had to jump in between two players. The crowd was kind of small but you definitely got your money's worth out of this one. I actually felt a little stressed after the contest! I know that there was one intentional foul called during the game but I was a little surprised there wasn't a T or two thrown after the kicking and shoving started. I would have liked to have seen the referees call the coaches together and straighten things out before they escalated to the point they did. Instead, the officials tightened the game up drastically and started calling every little foul. SK has definitely been a team for a few years now that rarely shows emotion or physicality. They certainly showed that they can play a different style last night. Congrats on a hard fought win and good luck in the rest of the tourney. I look for New Cath to make a strong run in Richmond. I also wouldn't count them out of the Bank of Kentucky Tourney, i.e. 9th Region. They have to be considered a strong contender.
PrimeTyme Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 This was a very physical game between two strong teams. Both coaches are a "class act" as well and are very much respected. They are really getting their teams ready for the All "A" and Regional Tourneys. Best of Luck to both teams, I'm just glad they are in different regions!
