Mason County/Bourbon County JV Game
Mason typically pulls out some of the better players from JV play offs to save them for varsity play offs. Not sure how many if any this year. Congrats to Bourbon.

Mason County/Fleming County Predictions
It depends a lot on how much Coach B wants to play is starters.

Mason County 39 West Carter 20
Stopping Gilbert and Harris has been the focus of most opponents of Mason this year. Unfortunately for them, Mason has Tyler Black (2 TD catches last night), Tyler McFarland, Marcel Jackson, Xavia Shurn and a couple of others catching passes. Fullback Troy Chenault is averaging more per carry than Harris partly because of the focus on Harris. Plus, Harris had 3 catches for 67 yards. Except for Danville, slowing Gilbert and/or Harris has been a hollow victory for Mason's opponents.

Mason County/West Carter Predictions
I suspect Mason will bring their A game, maybe in Spades. It's homecoming, the seniors, the heart of this team, are fired up. The better players for Mason always bring their A game. Indeed, Pawsat's greatest flaw may be that he tries too hard. Depends on how Coach B plays it, too. If Mason gets up, he may play the back ups earlier than usual to save the starters for down the road, thus keeping the score lower.

Mason County/West Carter Predictions
I agree. They kill themselves with holding penalties and have been too easily drawn off-sides by the opposing quarterback's cadence at times.

Mason County/West Carter Predictions
A diving catch in the rain for a touchdown. it would have made the NFL highlights. And no, I'm not related either.

Mason County/West Carter Predictions
Pretty much my take on the game. Mason has several younger players that have come a long way this season and given Mason more depth than they had at the beginning of the season. I think Mason was fresher than Russell in the fourth quarter. Mason's O-line can wear you down.

How many players are home grown on your football team ?
Pretty much all at Mason Co. The better players for sure.

What is a good 'Passer Rating' for D1 prospect QBs?
I had forgotten, we went to the U.C. camp also. A lot of coaches from a lot of schools. Sounds like your son has what it takes to play in college. BTW - I've never even heard anyone mention the QB rating for a high school QB. In high school it's too easy to have all the tools to be a great QB and not have good receivers. Brett Favre played for a high school that rarely threw. (Ironicially, his dad was the coach.) He had one D-1 offer.

What is a good 'Passer Rating' for D1 prospect QBs?
Tennessee, Middle Tennessee State, Western KY, Eastern KY, Ohio U. Illinois and OSU. I guess that's only 7. He went to a Nike Rise combine in Atlanta also. We accidentally missed UK's camp. A couple we wanted to go to had scheduling conflicts. Middle Tennessee State, Ohio U and OSU had coaches from other colleges present. Ohio U and MTSU had 3-4 colleges represented. OSU had 6 or so. Cats is right. If you want to get some looks from college coaches, the camps can't be beat. Like I said, go to a couple your junior year to see how good you need to be as a senior.

What is a good 'Passer Rating' for D1 prospect QBs?
Amen. I took my son to about 8 camps this past summer. He's getting interest from some D-1 schools that wouldn't have considered him otherwise if they even heard of him. Funny thing, he ran one of his poorest 40s at one camp but the coaches liked what they saw in all the other drills.

What is a good 'Passer Rating' for D1 prospect QBs?
I'll go with size as #1 with velocity and accuracy close behind and then speed. Going to senior day camps is critical unless you're a absolute stand-out. Go your junior year to at least a couple to see what they're like. Be prepared. You're short comings will be obviouis. But, don't let that discourage you. No one, except Peyton Manning, is perfect and coaches look for what fits their preferred style.

Mason County/Russell Predictions
Ms. Bubba is a Mr. It's a play on the Beverly Hillbillies. I've never said that Russell has no chance. Mason lost to Danville, struggled against Montgomery but have played very solid football since. If they keep it up, Russell has a tough row to hoe.

Mason County/Russell Predictions
Russell's ground game would have to be hitting on 12 cylinders and their defense smothering. Mason's offense is stronger than last year at this time. Indeed, I think the team overall is better than last year at this time. Two strong, fast running backs, plus Gilbert, Black and the newer receivers are just getting better each game. Teams have double and triple teamed Gilbert leaving the other receivers open for easy gains. And, Gilbert is still the leading receiver. The offensive line is led by three solid seniors. I won't rule out Russell either. Anything can happen when these two play. But, Mason has been playing with confidence, poise and determination. They'll be tough to handle.

Mason Co.-St. Patrick Hard Feelings Continue
I'm not going to go through a list of schools, etc. It wouldn't be fair to the ones mentioned as it might lead people to believe those schools are worse than others, which is probably not the case. Here's a rather extreme case in another state. Oh, I was once told by a school administrator that a lawsuit wouldn't bother him, they deal with lawsuits all the time. LOL!! I told him they must really be doing something wrong if they're having lawsuits that often. Interesting that you point out that retired public school teachers go to private schools. Why do they take retirement rather than keep teaching at a public school? That's also not my experience. There may be one or two retired but not very many. However, your comment supports my argument. The more experienced teachers are going to private schools. I'm not saying schools never take action, but it's like pulling teeth and painfully slow at best. I was once part of a group that complained about an abusive middle school basketball coach who was essentially a volunteer paid $1 a year so he could use the school facilities as an "employee." It took three fourths of the parents having a meeting with the school district superintendent and they didn't take action that year but just didn't let him return the next. My daughter once texted her mother that she was being humiliated and verbally abused by her coach in the locker room before a game. Her mother said something to the coach after the game. (Nothing foul, no cursing.) The school took the coaches side because her mother didn't observe the "24 hour rule" where you're supposed to wait 24 hours to complain. So, if your child is being abused, you're supposed not protect her but sit and wait 24 hours.

Mason Co.-St. Patrick Hard Feelings Continue
My children range for 39 to 14 years old and have attended public and private schools in various districts in two states. I stand by what I said through experience. What's ridiculous is what teachers get away with many times.

Mason County/Russell Predictions
Mason's only beat Russell at Russell once, when the current crop of seniors were sophomores. Mason is better this year than that year. The last three games, Mason's playing better than last year's undefeated team. Mason wins.

Mason Co.-St. Patrick Hard Feelings Continue
LOL. I'm sure you could cherry pick examples each way. There's a reason that public schools and the NEA are scared to death of school vouchers and school choice. And, there's a reason the parents in places like Cincinnati pay more for their children to attend a private school than it costs to attend U.C. You're final sentence is vague and ambiguous enough as to be meaningless. "diverse situations", "extreme measures", "self accountability"?? I've yet to see a public school teacher or administrator be held accountable for anything. They're reaction is always circle the wagons and protect our own.

Is Mason County good enough to challenge...
Troy Chenault has really been coming on at fullback. A tough, bruising run for a TD to seal the game against Rowan (watch the end of the Wazoosports.com video), two TDs against Harrison, one of over 50 yards, and a 70+ yard run against Montgomery. Chenault and Harris are both averaging 6.8 yards per carry. Mason's defense has toughened up the last couple of games but could still use some improvement.

Mason Co.-St. Patrick Hard Feelings Continue
Mason Co and St. Pat's both have fine varsity coaches. In my experience Mason has a huge amount of politics, bickering and infighting that goes on between parents at times, but more so in the middle school level. St. Pat's have more of a "we're all in this together" atmosphere. I've had kids at both schools and speak from my personal experience.

Lewis County/Mason County Predictions
Lewis surprised Mason last year with their speedy defense, but it only helped for a half. Looks like Mason wins again.

Mason County vs. Harrison County predictions
Doesn't look like any rain tonight. Hot and dry.

Mason County vs. Harrison County predictions
I'll take Mason.

Mason County 20 Rowan County 7
Good luck to Rowan for the rest of the season. The game could have gone either way up until the last few minutes. A classy team with classy fans. It was a pleasure visiting your school. The trick plays certainly didn't work. Sometimes when a coach switches things up too much it gives the team the message that you can't beat this team unless we pull out something fancy. It hurts their confidence. I was surprised how well Mason contained Cross and the number of times a Mason defensive lineman or linebacker tipped a pass.

Can anyone tell me about Montgomery County..
Against Mason they ran 40 times and passed 31 times with 17 completetions. Yardage for each was almost equal. I don't remember seeing a lot of team speed. They played a good, hard game. A clean playing, well coached team.
