George Rogers Clark / Mason County predictions 3/8
Scott took GRC to the wire and is a smaller team. MC matches up much better with GRC in size and has talent out front and underneath.

KHSAA Title Games in Bowling Green VS The 'Ville
Check the ranking for Highlands and their game agains St. Xavier of Cincinnati this year. Currently: USA Today - #6; ESPN - #12; Rivals - #10. Wish I was a poor, hillbilly relation like that.

Pike County Central 26 Mason County 23
5, I believe. It's hard to win like that. Congrats to Mason on a great season. Good luck to Pike Co. Central going forward.

Would EKU be an acceptable site for hosting the Championships?
My son and I visited WKU a few weeks ago. Undeniably a great venue for football, HS or college. A surprisingly beautiful campus also. In some ways this debate is much ado about nothing in that who knows where the teams in the finals where come from year to year. But, it is fair to bear in mind that Huntsville, Alabama is about 40 miles closer to WKU than northern Kentucky and most counties more than one county east of I-75. Rotating the site seems a good option, but, then again, where will the teams end up coming from. We can't predict. (Although, in a case or two we may have a real good idea.)

Would EKU be an acceptable site for hosting the Championships?
If you want to find a location that is convenient for the largest number of people, Lexington or Richmond make more sense than Bowling Green. Louisville is still convenient to the major populations centers of Norhtern Kentucky, Lexington, Paducah and Bowling Green. It makes no sense to use strict geography but population centers/density. Louisville is actuall slightly closer to Richmond than to Bowling Green according to Yahoo maps, as, obviously, are Northern Kentucky and Lexington and a whole bunch of other places. Pointing out Marion County is the true geographic center is ludicrous. There aren't any where close to enough facilities of any sort to accommodate a championship crowd. Moving the site from place to place makes sense to. But, we see where the real bias lies. Make you points but don't accuse others of bias when you have no knowledge of that person's motives or know anything else about them. Heck, I grew up in Tennesse. All my bias lies south of Kentucky. That's why I know how long it takes to get to Knoxville. Go Vols!! :dancingpa

Would EKU be an acceptable site for hosting the Championships?
According to the U.S. Census figures compiled by the state of KY, about half of the KY population lives in the Bluegrass, Buffalo Trace, Cumberland Valley, FIVCO, Gateway, Kentucky River, Lake Cumberland, and Northern Kentucky Area Development Districts. All of these people would be closer to EKU than WKU. http://chfs.ky.gov/nr/rdonlyres/27a8bced-541c-4709-83fe-5469db40edbc/0/kypopulationestimatesbyadd.xls It is quite obvious that Richmond and Lexington are more geographically central to the state than Louisville or Bowling Green. Just look at a map. Plus, looking at the population by county/ADD, neither Louisville nor Bowling Green are more accessible than Lexington or Richmonc, probably less so. Given the facts, which you didn't bother to check, you are the one expressing bias - i.e. a particular tendency or inclination, esp. one that prevents unprejudiced consideration of a question; prejudice.

Questions for Coaches
True. Stats might get you that first look but, othewise, it's your potential. Players should go to camps, senior days, etc. as much as possible to be seen by coaches.

Would EKU be an acceptable site for hosting the Championships?
Bias? False accusation. I can drive to Knoxville, TN in the same amount of time it takes me to drive to Bowling Green. It's not bias, it's pragmatism and fairness. Why should people from the eastern end of the state have to drive 4-5 hours each year while those in the central/western regions drive 1-2 hours? Does WKU now have grandstands on both sides of the field? Yes, very nice stadium. Looks brand new.

Would EKU be an acceptable site for hosting the Championships?
EKU would be much more convenient for those of us in the eastern portion of the state, as well as those in the central region. Richmond may be a little short on hotel rooms but Lexington is 15-20 minutes up I-75.

Mason County/Pike County Central Predictions
I'll go with Mason but anything could happen. I don't know what to make of the Pike Central-Fleming Co. score other than lots of offense and little defense. Mason's defense has stepped it up lately.

Mason County 62 East Ridge 6
I generally get to the games an hour or more early and it seems the teams always warm up early on the practice field. You can eat at the tailgate and watch, etc. You can get closer to the teams then than when they're on the playing field. I like it because I can better judge the size of the players.

Mason County 62 East Ridge 6
To quote Coach Buchanan, “In being fair and honest though, we were just substantially more talented than they were. That’s just the reality of it.” It showed. The difference was obvious.

Who is the most underrated 10-0 team?
I agree. Fearis is an excellent athlete, plays basketball, and runs track as well as football. Plus, as I've said before, Mason has an excellent offensive line. You don't go 10-0 without the big guys up front doing their job.

Bluegrasspreps.com 3A Rankings (Final for 2009)
The starting QB is out until next season. Considering Mason had is second highest scoring production of the season and largest amount of yardage (and I'm sure time of possession) without him against Greenup, Mason will continue to be dangerous.

Bell County/Greenup County Predictions
Bell County's only loss this year was to Alcoa from Tennessee. Alcoa is a genuine powerhouse working on its 6th straight state championship, Randall Cobb's alma mater. I met a player from Bell County and his father at WKU a couple of weeks ago. Good folks. Apologies to Greenup but Bell County by as much as they want.

Mason County/East Ridge Predictions
Worth quoting again. Considering the way Mason played Friday night, I think they'll do just fine. Colt Fearis is a skilled quarterback with great speed and an excellent athlete overall. The offense is solid at every position. The defense is playing better than ever. It is my understanding that Neal will miss basketball season. He has a bright future and I pray for a full recovery for him.

Mason County/East Ridge Predictions
Mason's 401 yards of total offense against Greenup was the most of the season for them. Mason had 384 yards rushing which was more than the total offense of any other game except West Carter where they had 386 yards of total offense. On top of that, Mason's final scoring drive took 16 plays and 10 minutes. Can you say "time of possession?" Being forced to run more certainly didn't make Mason less dangerous, maybe it made them more dangerous.

Mason County/East Ridge Predictions
384 yards rushing against Greenup County. While Mason loses the deep pass threat, they gain speed at QB. Mason wins, I don't predict scores though.

Mason County 47 Greenup County 13
My son corrected me about Colt's TDs today. I got my original info from another parent. As I reflected on this game, I felt more and more than Mason's O line did a great job. At one point they had a 16 play, 10 minute drive to score. You don't do that without the hosses up front playing well. I know Mason's backs, etc realize how good their line is, but this is the first game where they really got to assert themselves because previously they usually made made quick scores.

Colt had 5 rushing touchdowns, tying a school record. Colt can't throw as well as Neil but he's faster, adding another rushing threat. I enjoyed watching Mason proving they can grind it out. Both offensive and defensive lines played well for Mason.

Mason County/Greenup County Predictions
Talked with a couple of MC players. Tonight they have the opportunity to become the first undefeated regular season team in school history. There's only one first time and they're rarin' to go.

I don't doubt you. I hope Mason gets the opportunities he deserves and more.

Mason County/Greenup County Predictions
I asked the question last spring of why Rister was moving from school to school so much and was told, by you I think, it was personal. Recently, I came received info that makes me sympathetic to Rister, plus I've known him in the past and know he's a good kid. RAMS68_1 makes good points though. I hope it all works out for the best of everyone but this is a situation that needs to be handled with kid gloves.
