What are some reasons that coaches choose not to post STATs on Bluegrass preps?

Are coaches concerned that their STATS will be used against them?

Speaking as someone who broadcasts games, and finds the posted stats extremely helpful, I've noticed that a tremendous number of teams that are having bad years seem to the ones that don't bother posting stats.

 

Perhaps a coincidence; perhaps I've just been looking at the wrong teams. But a lot of 0, 1, and 2 win teams seem to comprise a large contingent of the "did not report stats" group...

The simple fact is, some schools just don't have someone keeping stats, and many others just don't put the time and effort into posting them with the scoreboard. It really hurts players chances of getting the recognition they deserve for awards and scouting. It's a shame.

It sure does I really don't think that it has any impact on coaches at all they other teams usually get trade films and some even send scouts out for games so they know who their main players are and keep up with them anyway. Just MO.

I agree !! Colleges send scouts to watch certain players at high school games too,and also get highlite tapes of those certain premium preformers. They can also watch team films. I feel that the players stats should be mandatory,as it can only better their resume for college. Some teams have 187 assistant coaches so I think one of them could find time to do this for the sake of the players, considering the players are what the coaches are here for to begin with!! If your a good player, everyone knows who you are, there are no secrets in high school football,but stats would surely help the cause. (JMO)

College coaches could care less about a kid's high school stats. They are looking at speed, size, reaction, agility, etc.

 

With that being said, I believe everybody should keep their stats updated as best as possible.

I know that our school, and many like it, have someone in the box durinig the game, on a computer, keeping stats for every game; they then hook up to a printer and print out every quarter to take down to the coaches on the sidelines. If someone wants access to the stats, most likely, they are available with a request from the staff. I think that time is the real issue, there doesn't seem to be enough of it in the day. You are right, the coaches are there for the kids otherwise they wouldn't be, in many cases volunteering their time; there are very few coaches that have paid positions. A great number of coaches have "regular" jobs, put in long hours on the field, meetings and film study and most importantly, a family that they see very little of during the season. Trying to fit all of that in, is a huge a challenge for them but in most cases do the best that they can. So, I guess I would say that if anyone wants to post the stats on here or another site that everyone has access to, you could most likely call your respective coaching staff and request a hard copy of the stats and post them on the site. I'm sure that most if not all schools would give you access.

:thumb: Bingo :thumb: Just take a look at these stats. Player #1 - 31 catches for 670 yards and 7 T.D.s Player #2 - 22 catches for 354 yards and 3 T.D.s. They are on the same team. Player # 1 is 5'11" - 160 lbs Player # 2 is 6'7" 240lbs. Player # 1 no schools are looking at. Player # 2 has 6 D - 1 offers. :thumb:

It's not that hard. Each coach on defense gets his kids tackles, while one offensive coach compiles the offensive stats. They give those to the coach who compiles everything and they plug it in a spreadsheet. Or give it to a parent that's wants to help out and let it be their job. There are many ways to get it done.

Some teams have 3 on staff also. Very few teams have as many people running the show as many may think.

True. Stats might get you that first look but, othewise, it's your potential. Players should go to camps, senior days, etc. as much as possible to be seen by coaches.

Most of the kids now are putting together their own "highlight reel" to either send out to individual colleges or post on sights that colleges subscribe to. You are right about attending these types of camps, it never hurts to get as many looks as possible.
