I don't question why the schools do not post stats on this BGP site, but I do question why they do not submit them as requested by KHSAA to the KHSAA site? No school should have a problem getting a volunteer to do this. The people are there, and all they need is to be asked.

True. Stats might get you that first look but, othewise, it's your potential. Players should go to camps, senior days, etc. as much as possible to be seen by coaches.

 

Just what I was trying to say,recording stats cannot hurt the players. Maybe one recruiter can see great stats and then go digging for more info on that certain player, and then he might notice size and speed . Maxpreps and other recruiting sites have stats posted,if they weren't important why would they post them? Then on the other hand , a recruiter notices size and speed,then he looks at the stats and notices the kid is a monster and never makes a tackle or never catches a pass.I agree camps and film are the best way to get recognized but you better have the whole package. One last thing , then I'll shut up,does it have to be a coach that records stats or can it be a volunteer from the audience or maybe a teacher?

College coaches could care less about a kid's high school stats. They are looking at speed, size, reaction, agility, etc.

I may be missing something, but aren't your bolded statements counterdicting each other? It sounds like it to me.

My take on this even if you do not coach it is very nice as a fan to go to khsaa and check out other teams stats for your game next week. Sometimes that is all we have to go by when playing schools you do not normally play...like Bardstown...NO STATS!!!!! To me that stinks..now I am left watching films to see what we are up against..... :ohbrother:

I agree totally. If you are a coach,it could also save a lot of time in a coaches busy schedule.

I believe the only important stats in sports is the Wins and Losses, Everything else says hey look at me, but that is the society we have become.

 

Player/Parent: "I (my son) had 25 tackles"

Me: "What was the score"

Player/ Parent: "we lost by 10, but I (my son) had 25 tackles"

I think the whole conversation here is to aid the coaches by helping them look at tendencies of opposing upcoming teams and help the players possibly move on to the next level. Wins and losses are not the only important stats, if they were then good HS athletes on a struggling team may never get a look to go play at the next level(just one example). You have taken this conversation in a whole different direction with "bragging rights" about one's kids.

I had one coach tell me that he didn't post his stats until the end of the season. The reason was he didn't want other teams to see who his leaders in offensive and defensive stats were. "Let them watch tape and figure out who they need to block or watch for, but don't just hand it to them." I understand that approach. As soon as the season was over (within 24 hrs) for that team, all their stats were posted for the season.

 

His other comment was "We can give the stats to any college coach on a kid that they want, but I am not giving them to my opponent if I don't have to." Makes sense to me.

I agree to some extent...but being on the end that likes to look at stats to figure out who the threats are, I guess thats why I like posting. But believe me when I say that coach definately has a point about not posting.
