2010 "Best of the Bluegrass" All-Star Game
I only go to watch their first practice but they looked pretty good. Big linemen on both sides of the ball and plenty of talent in the skill positions.

What Ky HS fans travel the best?
I agree, biggest visiting crowd I've ever seen at Mason County. And it's a long, hard drive from the mountains to Maysville.

Campbell County 53 Mason County 49
MC only has one senior on the team and she dressed out for the first time last night coming off an injury. She wore a massive brace on her leg. MC will have a great year plus a lot to look forward to.

2010 "Best of the Bluegrass" All-Star Game
That O-Line will include Alex Newton (6' 3", 285 lbs) from Mason Co. who is a heck of a good lineman. The O-Linemen don't run or catch the ball but are instrumental for those who do.

Mason County 62 Scott 56
Absolutely. Maybe as good as I'll see this year. Mason has two excellent point guards, one is a freshman already on her third year of varsity. Their other players handle the ball quite well also.

Mason County 62 Scott 56
Mason did. She was double teamed at virtually all times. Mason denied the pass to Tibbs. Her coach should have moved her out to a wing position. Tibbs can dribble and shoot, but none of that matters when you don't have the ball.

Mason County 62 Scott 56
I was at the game. Very impressive win for a team whose tallest player is maybe 5' 9" going up against a team with a 6' 4" center and a 5' 11" forward. Excellent shooting for MC and tough defense on Tibbs. Stephen Butcher did a great coaching job.

I don't want to think about that.:irked:

Are they "classless" or are you soft?????
You're pathetic. That sort of thing shouldn't be tolerated at all and shouldn't be seen in public period, let alone at high school activities. If it wasn't for low class, you'd have no class at all.

Belfry 27 Mason County 14
Pawsat had played a few downs at safety at the end of some close games, Russell and Montgomery come to mind, but very little defense overall. I don't remember him lining up at linebacker in any other game, and I was at all of them. The pre-game introductions for the Belfry game included Pawsat as starting at linebacker. I heard people questioning the wisdom of that immediately. I've never heard a single person question not playing Pawsat on defense all season. I'm not sure who was injured that normally started there. Cornerback Xavia Shurn was out but Jordan Gilbert was covering his spot.

Sad and disappointing to see Pawsat hurt again. I was hoping for a game where both teams could play at full strength. Playing Pawsat on defense seemed like a huge gamble from the start. Good luck to Belfry.

What is proper protocol regarding music on the PA system during a game?
As a spectator, I don't like music over the PA, period. I want to be able to discuss the game with those around me without having to shout and be able to hear their comments also. As I remember a couple of years ago the PA announcer, not the music, at Campbell County almost never shut up and it was a real pain.

3A Playoffs Mason County/Belfry Predictions
Thanks for the positive wishes. I think Mason is more physical than most give them credit for. Watch Troy Chenault run. I suppose what they do on offense with their speed and skills players overshadows that some. Mason doesn't do much ramming it up the middle because they get more production other ways.

3A Playoffs Mason County/Belfry Predictions
Mason's QB, Pawsat, has proven himself to be a capable runner, decent speed and very strong. He's also an excellent passer. Daring Mason to pass will put a smile on their face. Mason generally follows a bend but don't break philosophy on defense, usually a four man front. I expect a close game too.

LOL. It sure seems that way.

Mason County 41 East Ridge 20
Should have. It wasn't the amount of points Mason scored as much as they looked too sloppy on offense at times. The passing game clicked at times and at times not so much.

I expected to see more from Mason's offense, especially after last week.

Greenup County - The Best Team in Years, or A Disappointment?
Some times expectations are simply unrealistic. It takes a ton of talent to have a truly good football team. There are 22 positions to fill. Some guys can go both ways most of the time but not many. It wears the players out. I'm guessing people saw the talent in Corey Lyle and the other better players and thought they would carry the team. This can happen in basketball. But football requires a lot more talent. My son plays for Mason. He had nothing negative to say about Greenups players and complimented their defensive tactics. I'm thinking expectations were simply too high.

3A Playoff Predictions East Ridge/Mason County
I don't make score predictions but Mason played their best game of the season against Greenup. This should spell trouble for East Ridge. I can't see Mason losing either.

Greenup County - The Best Team in Years, or A Disappointment?
I've pondered over what to say in response to this post. ChiefSmoke's words reflect my thoughts quite well. Greenup played hard against Mason, the only game I saw Greenup play. They never quit. In high school I was a basketball player. At 6' 3" I was the center and tallest player on my team and the shortest center in our league. Four times we played teams on which the point guard was the only player on the other starting 5 shorter than me, twice the other center was 7 foot. We managed to win half our games by hustling like crazy and shooting well. One of my proudest moments was when I out rebounded and out scored that 7 footer for a half. (He was an all-stater who got a scholarship to Tennessee.) No success is not always measured by the number of wins you have. I suppose Grantland Rice is passe these days, but I still believe in his words: For when the One Great Scorer comes, To write against your name, He marks - not that you won or lost - But how you played the Game.

Mason County 55 Greenup County 27
My take on it during the game was that it was a defensive strategy. GC can't score if they don't have the ball. GC is a good team. They had the potential to come back until late in the game. A couple of good plays by GC, a couple of mistakes by Mason and, boom, we have a game much closer than comfortable.

Good game summary, mcpapa. Lyle runs hard and always falls forward when tackled. Mason made Greenup pay for every mistake. Pawsat's biggest game this year. Gilbert and Harris looked awfully good too.

Mason County 42 Fleming County 0
Yeah. I believe he likes to try new tactics, test players out in various situations and is thinking about the team being at its peak during the playoffs.

Not much to say about this one. Mason's passing game wasn't as sharp as it could have been. Several dropped passes. Fleming was clearly out matched.
