I personally do not think anyone in 4a can beat them...they are solid at every position! And very well coached.

The thing with these boys and the few years above them is that they either play up or down to their competition. You will never see a 56-0 blowout by Monroe. For one the coaches will never do that and two the boys are content with winning by 7-14. I am really looking forward to hosting Desales. That is the quality competition we as fans love to see. We gave away a couple games this year on silliness. A couple losses were so close to wins but did not go our way. That is fine, but from here on out a comfortable lead would be better on my blood pressure. Glasgow and Green gave the Falcons all they could ever want and Green showed that they can run a really good offense against a pretty tough defense. Monroe has some very good stand-out athletes that could definitely play at the next level...do we have break away speed? NO. Very good team speed though and very good size. These boys are right on the edge of something really great, it's just going to take one turn of Something...maybe that's knocking off Desales. Just maybe....

Very good analysis of the game. Monroe has yet to have that break out game that everything clicks. Is it there? I hope we see it against Desales.....Offense continues to struggle.

I come on tonight with a heavy heart. It was senior night at Monroe and our youngest played his last regular season game against an old rivalry of Monroe.....Green! Now on to my thoughts....which are not worth much tonight. Monroe will not make it past a good team. If they can't get it together by now it's just not going to be there. They are a. Decent team with good athletes. Only a handful have the grit and want to to be better each week, but a lot are just happy putting on the uniform and calling themselves Falcons! As an alumni and super fan of Monroe I am very discouraged with their performance and effort. Not with all because they know if they are giving 100% every snap. They are staying alive though, even if they are scaring the poop out of our fans. Way to go Falcons, District Champs Again! Now onto a good Wayne county squad that is always a good game between two programs that respect each other greatly!

Does anyone see any upsets in the first or second rounds??? Or is the first round pretty secure???

Will the road trip to Monroe County play against them? Monroe's defense is solid. They have averaged only giving up 18 points against much larger programs. Could this be a defensive battle or does everyone up north still believe they are out of Monroe's league????? I am so looking forward to hosting Desales....

I am a little speechless at the moment... Monroe decided they would come to play in the second half almost to late. I want to give a couple shout outs before I begin they rundown of the nail biting game we all just witnessed. First... The defense of the Falcons, Gage Nelson and Devin Young seem to be the leaders of the squad. Awesome second half showing! Tre Whitlock had an amazing night as well! Next Ty Mink is a complete stud as a sophomore. This kid decided he was going to take control of the ball game in the fourth and did just that. Jordan Phillips as always did more than his part, and I would love to see him carry it more! He put us in position to win the game. Offense is really struggling for Monroe, and that is very scary this late in the season. I am not 100% sure this scheme and personnel is the correct fit. Defense will hold there own against just about anybody...IMO Glasgow was hungry and to be honest just plain wanted the win more than Monroe. PERIOD!!! The game went back and forth all night. They would score, we would score. I am sorry I did not keep the thread updated but I was beside myself until late in the third. This was a typical Glasgow/Monroe game. Right down to the last 1.7 seconds. Glasgow took the lead with five to go, Monroe scores with 3:36 left in the game off a Phillips long run up the gut that set up the score. Glasgow goes three and out and on the second play Monroe throws a pick six for the lead back to the Scotties. This is when Ty Mink decided he was not done. Power wildcat and six plays and 67 yards Ty walks in the end zone for the go ahead score. 38 seconds remain and Glasgow was not done. Three plays and long passes put them in first and goal from the 8. 3.6 seconds left....oh wait....the head coach of the Scotties gets a gift and has the score keeper change the clock to 6.3. They throw to corner of end zone but coincidently the clock actually stopped when the ball left the qb's hand. Incomplete.......1.7 seconds left.....another pass attempt but a long sack ends this one and Monroe advances to District Champs! I won't be able to talk tomorrow! Electric atmosphere and revved up crowd! Go Falcons

Half Glasgow 14 Monroe 12 Monroe thought this was a gimme...Glasgow thought otherwise!!!! Monroe looks absolutely horrible! I am not sure what happened to our team but I think they are still in Tompkinsville. Glasgow looks very good tonight.

Great job... I believe 2a is going to get shook up in the next three weeks. In five weeks all the planets will start aligning and we will be able to see the shining of those who are deserving. It's been a fun season so far!!!! Just sad it is almost half over.

It's hard to compare that score since Monroe sat out their starting Qb and three OL to rest for district. I am very confident in the Falcons. Coming to Monroe you may realize it won't be a cakewalk like the northern teams think. It's a hard place to win if it's close cause of the Fans. The boys step up a level when the crowd really gets into it. Never less I look forward to hosting Desales fist then Cal for region!! 👍

The offensive line is very questionable. Monroe may have lost #67 Drew Hammer to a torn shoulder. If the rest of the line had this young mans drive and heart this team would be state champions this year. They have the size and having a former UK lineman as a coach should help...I am not sure what is going on. It stumps the entire community when all the weapons are their but the results are less than satisfactory. Is it the heart? Is it coaching? Is expectations too high? Do the kids just not want it as bad as the rest of us do? This remains to be seen...

Monroe has to beat the teams they should to be considered a threat. District SHOULD be hands down for the Falcons but I honestly believed they should have been 5-1 at this point. If they don't figure out the small kinks in the offense, they will not make it to Mayfield! If they do....watch out!!!!!!

Great job as usual!!! The Falcons will hold their own in the upcoming weeks. They haven't had that game where everything starts clicking as of yet. It will come and more than likely will come when they need it the most. The next couple of weeks should be practice for a tough region run playoffs. Having Cal and Desales then Mayfield. Does the road to BG get any tougher than through this route in 2a.

The game was ugly fast. Five fumbles between both schools in first quarter. It seems one would Flop the ball then the other would flop it back. The rain did not let up until late in the fourth. I really like Metcalfes grit, they seem to want to play ball just fall short on the numbers they need to be successful! #4 for the Hornets took a beating tonight but got up every time and kept grinding. Two thumbs up for this kids grit and heart! Monroe has offensive line problems and questionable play calling a lot. I guess as a coordinator you are a God or Goat.... To be a serious contender they will have to work out a ton of issues on the OL. AND, get some defensive tackles and linebackers that will play every play! Tre Whitlock excluded. This kid is a beast. We have defensive linemen standing up at the snap like they are linebackers....a good line will have their way with some of these kids that think they are super stars. All of them have the talent and size to be, but their attitudes and arrogance hurt them and this team greatly.
