They could still grab a 4 or 5 if they win out including the A-10 tourney.

Who will win the 9th Region?
StraightShooter replied to AirYardGo's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
I'll go with Boone in an upset. The interesting fact is this: Boone can look ahead to the 9th region tourney - Holmes cannot or else they could get shocked in the first round at HC. -
Unbelievable with a shot clock. Looks like a Brossart-Holy Cross H.S. score.

Assuming they get by EC, EC has a shot but they did not win the All A. So, I say it is a fair shot. Lack of easy baskets by a dominating center and lack of depth will be their demise. Sweet Sixteen is more difficult to win than the All A. As one other poster said, deep down inside it would be wonderful to see a tiny school win it all.

I simply think that there are always bad calls, questionable calls and missed calls at every basketball game at every level that go both ways. It's just part of a fast-paced, tough game. I firmly believe that there are MANY opportunities in every closely contested game, where either team could have taken destiny into their own hands by performing better. To blame a loss on the officials is a huge copout and does not teach the proper life lessons that we hope our kids will learn from sports. Plain and simple - the refs did not cost NC this game. I'm sure they had many chances to win the game on their own and did not do it. -

Sounds like a good game between the #3 teams in regions 9 and 10. The good guys won this time!!!!! Congrats to the Birds. -

OUCH. I remain skeptical about the Camels being a factor in the 10th region. Granted, Scott is probably peaking, but 74-29??????????? -

Any details? Congrats to Ryle. Not such an easy place to grab a win. -
Congrats to the Dogs. Sounds like it was not close, unlike the first time. No surprise here.

NKY Week 11 Coaches Poll

Holmes should be #1. People put too much stock in a W/L in one game in basketball where homecourt means so much. Holmes beats Boone at Holmes IMHO. Boone beats Highlands at Boone IMHO. The Boone game at Highlands was "one of those games" that happens EVERY year in basketball. Boone should be #2. -

State title contenders
StraightShooter replied to 5thIndian's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
EC will be especially dangerous early in the tourney. Depth will be a factor that will prevent them from winning the title IMHO. However, they are one of the 6-8 teams capable of winning it - I just don't see it because of the depth factor. Best wishes to them. Quite a story and a very good h.s. basketball team. -

Congrats to the Injuns on breaking the skid. This seems par for the course for the Cougars. Don't they usually go into the district tourney at or below .500 and then make it to the region each year? -

Maybe he meant squatting. No way that he would bench press 400+. Coop is right. I do like the way that the Elliott young man plays the game and his future is bright, no doubt.

Nice week for the Rebs. 3-0 with a win over the #1 team in the state. Keep it up. No loooking back. -

Another surprising game in a surprising season in Park Hills. Congrats to Dixie on a very nice win. They must have been draining the 3-balls. -
Lori is a good h.s. girls' ref. She is a below average h.s. boys' ref.

Ballard at Elliott County
StraightShooter replied to SportsGuy41017's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Have not seen either team in person and can only go by general knowledge of KY h.s. basketball and common sense. Both teams are very good h.s teams this year. Home court is a 6-8 point advantage. EC takes that advantage and pulls out a close one - maybe 3 points with a game in the 70's. IMHO, if EC has a legit shot to win 4 games at Rupp, they must win this game at home. -
Nice win for the Raiders against a solid Beechwood club.

Every once in a while, it's nice to say I told you so. Congrats to the Rebs. Very proud of you boys. Good luck the rest of the year and I hope we get to see a rematch at BOK center next month. Holmes will still be the favorite. Just stay very humble about this win and enjoy this evening. -

If Boone is good enough to drill HC at HC by double digits, which I think they are, then Boone, as I have been saying, is also good enough to beat the #1 team in NKY, whose name I will not mention, since they get brought up in so many threads. Good luck to the Rebels tonight! I look for it to be a tough battle.
