  1. Congrats to the Birds on rebounding so well from the NCC debacle. Not surprised by what they did tonight.
  2. First of all, hats off to Beechwood. They played with great intensity as you would expect from a senior-laden team. I had not seen them play this year. I would guess this was one of their best games of the year. The good news is, the Rebs found a way to win and was not to be denied. I would agree that it was good that the opponent was not a different team in red and white tonight. You don't always play 3 top-notch games to win a tourney. So, here's to a better game in the semis vs. the Birds. Should be a great game. Best wishes to all of the Beechwood seniors - they played their tails off.
  3. We won't know about whether they have 3 big wins until next week. I continue to say Holmes is the favorite and it will surprise no one if you are right. I simply feel that they will have at least one close game.
  4. I'll politely disagree here. I think they will have at least one close game.
  5. Elliott should rotate in some subs when they get up by 20 regardless of when that occurs in the game. Just don't see this being under 30.
  6. If Ryle scores down low, a large if, this game could be fairly close. Lots of things have to go right for Ryle to have a chance, most significantly, a very bad shooting night by the Dawgs and over 50% shooting by the Raiders. Should be an intense defensive battle and I would not be surprised to see tempers flare. Dawgs should pull away late. If a "1 out of 25 chance" upset were to occur, it would be by a razor-thin margin. Most probably, Holmes by 14 would be my best guess. Good luck to both teams.
  7. For sure, Boone will not look past BW. Too much pain from the past few years of not even making it to the region. I think Boone will continue their excellent play vs. the Beechies. Should BW pull that "1 out of 10" upset, more power to them. I just do not see it happening although this game will be close for 2-3 quarters.
  8. I don't think this scenario will unfold. UK has perhaps the best and most loyal basketball fan base in the country. They are a HUGE draw for the NCAA. They will make the NCAA with wins over Georgia and at least one win in the SEC tourney.
  9. There all always exceptions. Just kidding. It was one of those nights for the Dawgs in Florence. Good analogy.
  10. The game at Highlands was "one of those games" that seems to occur each year. Road game, poor night all around, bad shooting, etc. No psyche problem. This Boone team will use it as a motivational revenge factor assuming they take care of business vs. Beechwood. Not a good time of year to be looking ahead. Whoever wins the region will be a good representative and will hopefully have the support of all of NKY. Good luck to all teams with a little extra luck to the Rebs!
  11. Boone by 14. Beechwood's only chance is to be lights out from 3 for the entire game. I still say Boone wins regardless. Rebs will not be denied in the opener.
  12. Good point. Holmes is the tourney favorite IMO, so any draw could be considered "better" for Holmes. To me, Ryle is better than Beechwood and Boone and Holmes are very close. Based on the recent game, NC is perhaps a more dangerous opponent than Highlands, assuming of course they win game 1. Then, if everything goes according to plan, the two best teams meet in the championship. Bottom Line - If Holmes plays at the top of their game, they will win. I hate to say that - but truth is the truth. Go REBELS!
  13. Great job Breds. They beat the Birds twice so I consider them the better team this year. CONGRATS!
  14. I would say Beechwood might beat Boone 1 of 10. I think you are underestimating Boone.
  15. Can I go out on a huge limb and say that T will compete for a state championship in Bowling Green towards Christmas time?
  16. :thumb: Emphasis on team - I see a very unselfish bunch in Tar Heel Blue or was that Boone County Blue! Keep up the good work Rebs!
  17. Good insight. Most of Ryle's scoring came from Stauffer and McLeish and Boone's was spread around pretty well. McFarland didn't even reach doubles but his overall play was very effective. He even got away with a flop and tricked the ref into a charging call, which I thought should have been ignored just like his other flop. Not a big fan of the flop but I like the intensity and leadership that Steven brings to the floor every night.
  18. I wasn't around for the earlier part of that period, but SK was always good. This year's team is not as high-powered as most years. I would guess that playing some tough 9th region teams vs. Grant County's schedule this year made a difference in the game tonight. Congrats again to SK.
