  1. I believe they are a top 10 team in 1A this year. And expect they will win a few playoff games.
  2. Hey Ram, allow me to extend it to 10 teams so I can slide the Harlan Green Dragons into about the #8 spot . Possibly in that top 5 late in the season. We are a skilled player or two short of making a lot of noise.
  3. Johnson, Robinson & Cornett can catch it. A better question is, can we get it to them?
  4. Hey HOP, glad we don't have to deal with him again this year! He is fast, smooth and controlled. A fine young athlete. Best of luck to him and MCC. :thumb:
  5. Coach D's children are #1 to him, as they should be. I don't think he would consider leaving until his youngest child graduates HHS. After that, it may be possible that he would leave....... Weightlifting and spring practice are going very well. They picked up an extra player or two that could really help out. Should be a fun season!
  6. :thumb::thumb::thumb: That Ram is one Cool Mod...... There could never be enough. :ylsuper:
  7. Now-a-days, with the lack of discipline at many homes and schools, football is more important than ever. There is a long list of positive things that football brings for young men. Other than the possibility of injury, I cant thing of anything negative. I'm old enough to have a son in HS and I still draw from my experiences. Our old coach was a class act on and off the field. He seemed to know how to handle the needs of everyone around him and commanded respect. Fortunately, my son also has a great coach in that aspect. I love everything about the game. I think it would be good for all young men, but football is not for everyone.
  8. The Harlan Green Dragons will start Monday March 2nd.
  9. Congratulations to Coach Luttrell and Estill Co.
  10. I knew my post would open up a lot of other players names. And of course there were great teams and players before and after the 80's. I'm sure HDE could compile a great list. Although hard to argue the accomplishments and records of the guys I mentioned, I knew them all well. (Maybe they are an all 80's team:D) ..........You are right jvdfc this thread should be about coach Luttrell. I hope things work out for him.
  11. OK fellas. The aformentioned players were good. But, the best Trojan offense IMO: QB - Doug Collins; FB - Rex Parsons; RB's - David Hensley, Tommy Hensley, Jake Napier, Adam Blanton; Ends - Tim Miniard & Stan Blanton; Line - Deanio Carmical, Bill Cole, Mike Burke, DD Brock. Center - Mike Pennington; K - Brian Barrett; P - Garry Henson. I'll ponder on the best Defense........
  12. .....And the tube socks up to the knees. My son laughs at my old pic's but not at our record.
  13. Evarts - 1981 Check out those collars. Never wore one but several teammates did.
  14. This thread is getting a little confusing so allow me to clarify. The Big Apple said "I know Corbin plays Harlan their first game of the season." And you asked "Dragons or the HCHS Black Bears?" and I said "Dragons (to identify who is playing Corbin).... wanna trade one out? Berea?"........... I jokingly asked that in respect of Corbin's football program, thinking that the Harlan Dragons would be better off playing Berea.
  15. Dragons..... Wanna trade out one DC? Berea?
  16. Dwight Burgan might make a good one.
  17. Sir, you are a class act. I have a tremendous amount of respect for you. Welcome home and thank you for your service. I hope you find a spot in football soon. You were a fine coach and great player. Any school would be blessed to have you.
  18. I agree YC, finally some good numbers to work with. Depth has been a major problem for a couple of years. Coach D & team have played two years now with a lot of guts and not much reward. I admire each one of those guys that stuck it out and gave 100% for the past few years including the ones that have graduated. There will be a lot of options for them this year. I think as the season progresses and they figure out positions, specifically the offensive backfield, they will have a good year......Bayshore probably has the backfield figured out. I expect Carr to start at QB and Saragas getting many reps. Defense should involve the same front and linebacking corps. Corners should be smarter and tougher. We'll miss Hensley from the safety position.
  19. A very bright and talented young man, but unlikely that he will be starting. I think he will get a lot of experience as a freshman and start as a soph. HS football is much better, but I'm gonna watch the SB now. Go Steelers!
  20. A much improved team from the previous year. I expect they will continue to improve this coming season. With a good number of upperclassmen, Pineville should be a good 1A football team. I believe they will be a contender in the district.
  21. Good point. The guys that have been in there have already sized one another up and should know what to expect play after play and know how to get their job done.
  22. I think fatigue is a very big factor for guys going both ways. Especially for lineman, right Ram? It's a dogfight for these guys on each snap and is very exhausting. I was discussing this same issue with my son last night. Hopefully he is able to "Specialize" at his position this coming year as a senior. And of course it is tough for the WR/DB types who run routes most every play and then play pass coverage. No doubt, you have to play your best athletes to compete.
  23. The HC Gym is truly amazing!
