Piper is a pretty good pitcher, he is not over powering but he hits spots and has nice off speed from what I remember.

Sanola? Im pretty sure he was ruled eligble to play for them next year, also Ligget and Rizzo are good ball players. I have also heard of some football and basketball guys that will be coming out to play baseball this year, so I wouldnt be surprised if the birds can field a solid team this year. Also the new coach is a real blessing and will be a nice change for Highlands this year.

I would put Highlands and Conner in front of Dixie, and maybe Beechwood ahead of Holy Cross.

I always thought Brett Hamblen was one of the best player to come through Highlands during Mueller's time. Also I havent seen Robbie Petermann mentioned on here, he was a stud at Kick/Punt Returns, pretty sure he holds most of Highlands records in that catergory.

Highlands does hustle, but the problem is that they dont have much strength/size. They need to get some of those boys from the student section tn out on the bball court.

The 4 of them are good ball players. But I think what most people have on them is if there so good than why cant CovCath win the region like the CCH fans have kept predicting? We have been hearing about this class since they were 8th graders (which isnt even the same players anymore most of them have split up), but something is obviously missing which is why its tough to include them in the discussion as Nky's best, when other players are beating them. I can see both sides of this argument, but regardless (besides Maile) what do the other 3 players you are talking about have on any of the other good players in the region?

Highlands pretty much dominated CovCath on the boards and seemed in much better shape physically. I dont think Highlands even had 1 three pointer, most their points were off of put backs and layups. Maile plays a nice game defensivly and was defiantly CovCath's only scorer. I was really impressed with Watson for Highlands, he dominated the boards and also scored alot. Highlands seems to have things rolling, and is defiantly a top 3 team in the region along with Boone and Holmes. As for CovCath, I dont know what the deal is, you can argue that they dont have Shover, but regardless they need to find a way to win these games.

I have a feeling this years matchup will be similar.

I think Boone will be just like they have been in the past couple years. Good but not good enough to compete for a regional title. Obviously they lost Farris, which is a huge blow, but they have a nice player in Cotton, and a good pitcher who I cant think of right now. Who knows though, I am not too familiar with Boone this year, so I dont know what players they have coming up or who has improved.

As I have said, I have seen him at my gym and he has defiantly bulked up. I dont know if his build is "good baseball build" or whatever, but he is one of the biggest highschool kids I have seen, so that should be good for any sport whether its baseball or football.

You argued that with Maile returning, CovCath could be ranked #2 in Nky. That is saying something considering the talent Boone and Highlands have this year.

This is funny. I would say in the last couple years CovCath has beaten Highlands in the postseason, but the difference is CovCath loses to Holmes in the finals the next day, and Highlands actually wins state in football. But I remember Highlands used to run the table in basketball for some consecutive amount of years. And they actually made it to Rupp each of those years, so its meaningless to beat a team but then lose to another region team the next game.

It really doesnt matter who the coach is. Its High School football, the talent on the field will do the talking themselves. The 06 team just had the talent, it didnt matter if Bill Parcells or Buggs Bunny was coaching. The coaches only job is to put the best 22 players on the field and let them play their game. The players need to motivate themselves, and want it themselves. Its getting kind of old hearing about this coaching situation, when in the beginning of the year, CovCath fans were saying Brossart is putting this team in the right direction, and that CovCath could compete with Highlands this year for state. Im sorry to "insult" you people, but is it possible that your really not as good as you think? I can understand bashing Brossart for the person he is, but when you are blaming wins and loses on him (especially since most of CovCath's losses were by like 40 pts.) it seems a little rediculous. But do you really think its going to matter who CovCath's coach is? By having a new coach, are they just going to become good all of a sudden?

Yea this seems like a waste of time considering the season hasnt even started yet, this may as well as be last years team because there will be some different players to put in these roles. Good pick up for Uk, Its interesting that the top player in the region the last couple years (Farris, Maile), both are playing for Uk. I tip my hat to the recruiting done by UK.

Personally I dont think it even matters who is number 2. Holmes is a clear dominate team in the 9th region this year. Really I would say you have Holmes, and then 3 teams that could challenge them this year ( Boone, Highlands, CovCath). Its kind of dissapointing because you like to see a toss up for the regional tournament like its been the last couple years. But at the same time, its cool that a Nky team has a good shot at winning state this year.

I dont know about you all, but I am very excited to see Highlands baseball this year. And it hasnt been that way in Ft. Thomas in quite some time, with all the hype of football( and apparently now soccer:lol:). I really think Jeremy will turn things around, they have the talent to do it, and hes the perfect guy to put this program at the caliber its capable of. Anybody else exicted about this year!?

I havent seen JC play this year, but have watched CC a couple times. CovCath just hasnt shown me anything this year, all I hear about is how down they are in football this year. However Ive heard JC is of equal talent as CovCath which should make for a pretty good game. But as much as I would love to see CovCath come back and play Highlands again, I dont think it will happen, I like JC because its at their place, and CovCath just isnt very impressive to me. Personally I think this is just another issue for people to complain about. The coach plays who he thinks will give him the best shot of winning, regardless of it being senior day. Thats like saying well its so and so's birthday so he should start this game. People need to toughen up and get over it, its sports. Also maybe Covcath shouldnt of scheduled St X as their Senior day game.

Same here, I would think he needs to get better physically, he is a very athletic kid but not very strong. Im surprised also that he wouldnt take this oppurtunity to get work in the weightroom, because if he wants to strive at the level of play he is capable of, than he defiantly needs to improve his strength. With that being said, he is only a High School kid, and sometimes its just about doing what you love to do, and basketball is probably something he doesnt want to miss out on his last year of High School.
