Oddly enough, I agree with just about everything.

 

Tyler Brake I would have at DH [assuming that is a position we can include]. Never really did much for me at first when I saw him, but I like his bat.

 

And shortstop, I'm not sure who I would put there to be honest, but I've said before, until I see this Hunter Jones kid play at the ability that everyone hypes him up to be, he would not be my shortstop. Too many errors. And the only other shortstop I'm really familiar enough with to judge would be the one for CCH and I'd say the same for him. He has the ability to be good, and he has improved a lot, but too many errors.

 

Roenker at pitcher, eh. Didn't impress me all that much, but he isn't shabby. I like Etschied and I even would put Jeramie Conner in there, due to the side arming motion he has. It throws people off.

 

Otherwise, spot on.

Sorry, but his lineup looks pretty good to me. I mean who would you replace?

 

I don't think any of his picks are outlandish at all.

 

Personally, I would pick Brake over Isler at 1B, but calling it a toss-up is certainly reasonable.

 

I would also take Etschied over Darner at 3B. Again, probably a toss-up, but as I've seen a lot more of Etch I can tell you he is one fabulous fielder and also hits very well (and yes, I know the same can be said of Darner).

 

As far as OF, rather than worry about LF/CF/RF, it might just be easier to pick three guys period. Of the list CCH24 started with, I would delete Nutini and replace him with Lokesak. Nutini's terrific defensively, but won't hit with Lokesak.

 

BTW, where will Slusher (Beechwood) play this year? He's got to be close to making this list, unless it's SS, where Jones is the clearcut favorite.

 

As far as pitching, I would again delete Nutini and replace him with Conner (NCC), and possibly add Hammonds (Ludlow) or Smith (Beechwood) into the mix.

I'd disagree, Nutini is an excellent hitter. He always seems to excel at the summer level, better than most and hits extremely well. He always seems to struggle against the lesser high school level pitching however. Defensively, Nutini is probably the best OF in the 9th and is one of the fastest speed wise as well. I would definitely have him there instead of Lokesak.

But he has never been anything more than an average hitter during the high school season and that kind of matters when we are ranking who we think will be the top performers during next year's high school season. CCH plays a very tough schedule. Sorry, but I just don't buy the "he doesn't hit well during high school because he struggles against "lesser" pitching theory." Lokesak is just as fast and just as good defensively. So is Ronald Cotton, also from Boone, for that matter.

Cotton is a real nice player... super fielder, but will have to hit more consistently to make this 9th dream team. He does have the talent to hit well thats for sure. I will agree that Lokesak is a better hitter than Nutini, but not so sure on the fielding part.

Very much agree. He needs to show some serious improvement in this area next season to join such a list for 2010 - as well as for Boone to be competitive in 2009.
