I was listening to the game and the announcers mentioned how young Covington Catholic was and they are. But Highlands is a team without seniors, so they are not exactly old. I am guessing they are referring to playing experience. Highlands did play a lot of sophomores last year.

My guess would be towards playing experience because a lot of the seniors for Cov Cath this year played mostly JV last year therefore don't have much varsity experience.

Highlands pretty much dominated CovCath on the boards and seemed in much better shape physically. I dont think Highlands even had 1 three pointer, most their points were off of put backs and layups. Maile plays a nice game defensivly and was defiantly CovCath's only scorer. I was really impressed with Watson for Highlands, he dominated the boards and also scored alot.

 

Highlands seems to have things rolling, and is defiantly a top 3 team in the region along with Boone and Holmes. As for CovCath, I dont know what the deal is, you can argue that they dont have Shover, but regardless they need to find a way to win these games.

I understand the officials in this game were not from the 9th Region. Can someone please fill us in on this??

For several years we have worked a couple of games in this showcase. The BBA also sent another crew to work the game before this one. When I was working I loved going down there to work.

I would say they don't mind, the BBA just has so many great ref's. We could send three just from Mt. Sterling and call any game in the state. Then you throw in the ref's from Lexington & Frankfort and all the other cities in the 10th & 11th region we could cover the whole state tournement for the KHSAA.

I can tell you that I have worked for coach's from every region and I have always had a great relationship with every coach and would never say anything negative about any of them. But, I can tell you that both Coach Listerman & Coach Faust from Northern Kentucky are a CLASS act!

Listerman has always been fairly open about wanting to play various teams throughout the state. Part of his philosophy was that you don't get 9th region officials at the state tournament and you don't play the 9th region in the state tournament.

 

Does anybody have any stats?

 

And when was the last time started a season 0-5?

I don't think CC has to worry about the state tourney this year.
