Highlands looked good, but I'm not sure that was much of a test for them. #3 is a very nice PG and handles the ball well for being such a small kid. Everyone I talked to was impressed by his ball handling and how he played.

 

CovCath has a long way to go, may not make it to the regional this year unless Shover puts them on his back when he returns.

I'd like to see the HHS shot chart. It probably looks like one huge dot right under the basket. I can honestly only remember two outside shots and those were in the first half. The bad thing is that the inside shots were rarely contested.

 

They have to get the ball into the hands of Wellbrock more often in the paint. No excuses for passing up opportunities to get him the ball when he had his man posted.

I can't remember a Mike Listerman team that played defense in that fashion. Going to be a long season in Park Hills.

Getting back in transition is effort in my opinion. You can't get beat down the floor as many times as they did for easy layups. I agree with you though, as far as in the halfcourt, they are slow, soft, and not very smart at this point.

The loss of Shover as greatly effected this Cov. Cath. team and I think their record shows it. They have some talent but are lacking the leadership that a senior point guard can give them. If he gets healthy and can return soon, they will be okay the second half of the season. If he doesn't return, it's going to be a long season.

For CCH there are only three football players playing basketball, Isler, Robinson, & Connelly, and they have been back for a couple of weeks now.

Highlands owned the boards in this game which led to the blow out. Watson played very well down low, getting many offensive rebounds and put backs. Killer was CCH was Highlands being so good in transition. They worked the ball around very well and found the soft spot in the CCH defense tonight.

 

BTW, I don't understand why, with CCH down only 6, Listerman puts practically the jv squad in with Isler? Highlands never looked back from this point and blew it open.

 

Steve K had a quiet game but got the Birds rolling early on.

 

I'd say at this point Highlands is either #3 or #4 in the region behind Holmes and Boone.
