Clyde, want my info to be correct. I was going by the KHSAA site when it said Hicks replaced Scott Thomas starting with the 2003-2004 season. Did Thomas coach that year too...or was there another coach that was between them?

Let me take a brief rabbit trail. Someone mentioned earlier that you have to book the Hyatt for the whole week. True? What days specifically? I am thinking about coming up next year for just Tuesday overnight and the first day's games Wednesday...and would like to stay at the Hyatt. Maybe go to the Dawahare's Hall of Fame banquet Tuesday night.

The KHSAA website does not have a name.

The newspapers only recently started mentioning how many coaches voted. Only they would know who voted...and it's possible they don't keep that information. I can imagine (but don't know) that they just tabulate the votes.

For the Herald-Leader (boys) all state teams, my notes say 96 coaches voted in 2014... 85 coaches in 2015... and just 52 this year. (Only 43 girls coaches voted this year for the gals all state team.)

My notes say Cooper H.S. opened for the 2008-2009 school year. What school(s) had those kids attended previously?

Neat article indeed. Tamme took a Murfreesboro, TN family "under his wing" this past winter when the son suffered a devastating brain injury during a high school game: took the siblings and the father to a Falcons game (where they upset Carolina) and gave them jerseys and such. Even visited them at the Shepherd Center hospital in Atlanta.

Here's an old-school vote...for the Wednesday start/Saturday night finish. They used to play 2 games on Wednesday night and 6 games on Thursday to start the tournament. Didn't care much for that idea.

I talked to Mike Fields after the game and he said it was a 15-minute stretch...without scoring. Not sure I have seen anything like it... ...except the first game today when Buckhorn nearly did the same thing in losing to Murray. A most unique way to start a state tournament. My wife felt so bad for the losing team in each case she started cheering for them. (This is the lady who had talked about bringing a book with her to the arena. )

I'll be there for the opening session. A token appearance, to be sure...but looking forward to it!

Also, if you guys would continue to list the officials by the region they represent, I would appreciate it.

For record keeping purposes, the biggest flaw I see in the KHSAA web pages is first names. Trying to find what people actually call a coach...compared to some of the names listed...is a bit trying. Here is another case--this time involving officials: Is it "Michael" Pangallo? The official list called him "Anthony."

That kind of finish sounds awfully familiar. Weren't Hoptown and Webster tied at the end of three quarters last year...before the Tigers pulled away to win by 15?

Would have thought this one would be closer. Closes the best season in Webster County's (53 year) history at 25-5. Congratulations to Coach Jon Newton and the Trojans. Four time defending 2nd Region champion Hopkinsville moves into the semi-finals...with county rival (& this year's favorite) Christian County lurking in the other bracket.

I'm guessing there will be an upset in there somewhere, but they definitely seem to have the power.
