Once again, I do not know the family nor this situation, but you seem to have a point and maybe an insight. With your comment I agree that too many parents want to live their dream and their Life thru their children, whether thru sports or other activities. It is definetly a shame if the young man did not want to leave East Carter. Could he had transferred to any other school in the 16th Region and been eligible? Not sure how all that works.

Has any school in the area had such a turnover ratio of players in Basketball? I just dont understand why parents cant make a decision to be part of a Program from start to finish. Too much glory out there to have I guess. Not many team Players/Parents anymore. I am not making a personal jab to this player or this family, because I am not familiar with them at all. I just wish families would decide to stick it out all the way thru high school and finish their career with some meaning and have a little pride for their Program where they started, whether at Rose Hill or anywhere.

Taters, you seem to have been to most of the games and obviously a strong fan of Boyd, what do you feel is their weakness in the system?

They could be having the same problem as Lawrence Co and some other area teams, great men coaching the game, but how much of that is Quality Coaching. Nothing personal here, but there are a lot of great men in this world, but not all can Coach or recruit kids to get out there and bust their butt night after night. Dont personally know any of the Head Coaches here, just assuming this could be a problem. Also could be a circumstance of being a great Head Coach, but not being able to put the right guys around you too.

There have been a lot of good JFL's in Eastern Ky is the past years, but some have definetly faltered. Lawrence Counties JFL used to be as strong as any but is faltering slightly due to Soccer and other things for young men to do. Boyd and Ashland's Leagues have faltered in the past few years by quite a bit and Russell and Raceland have continued to be strong each year. JFL's are only as good as their Leaders. If I remember correctly too, Lawrence County played Racelands Senior Class pretty tight in JFL, but Boyd's JFL in that class was as good as anyones at that time.

Parental involvement is not always the answer as well. If you look back in history of most JFL's, the better coaches have been non-parents of a player on the team. I would say that is the same case here as well.

If I understand correctly, all teams in their District will make the playoffs, so still a very possible chance of some playoff wins and advancements, because Lawrence is as good if not better then most of their District. Am I correct or am I misunderstanding the new District format?

Congrats to Ashland, but I would have to say would be hard to brag on either teams defense with a score of this nature.

Most schools system supposedly use the site-based council to hire/fire Coaches, but I would say the superintendent has the real say-so.

Lawrence County is already playing like they have lost respect for their Staff. They have no belief in the playcalling or what they are being asked to do. But out of all fairness to the players, there has been some questionable play calling to say the least. Looks like another year before the Bulldogs get back on track. Obviously this tough schedule didnt help much.

Lawrence Co wins this one if they decide to use Shephard in the proper ways.

He said the Freshman are being forced to play with the JV if they want to play.

I have a cousin at Boyd Co and he said there was enough Players to have a Freshman team, just no Coach.

I hate to tell everyone, but Lawrence Co has the horses, but will not get it done another season. I was able to catch the Lawrence/Boyd game and other than the first two offensive possessions, they were not as impressive at all. That should have been a win for Lawrence Co in that game especially after their brutal schedule leading up to the game. Boyd manhandled Lawrence, before and after the game. Also seemed no control of the team. A lot of after the game actions that was not pleasing to any crowd. Which was the smallest Lawrence Co crowd I have ever been around. The fans must have had other plans that night. Sheppard did look talented and rolling the first two possessions, then threw it away the rest of the night. Should have kept tucking the ball and running it.

I watch a lot of football and have watched a lot of football in my years. You guys are completely missing the point. NO ONE on Lawrence County's schedule has been what you would consider WEAK, but the schedule has gotten WEAKER since playing Belfry, and Lawrence County played Belfry very tough. That being said, I figured they would beat Sheldon or P-Burg. Both those teams are tough, but Lawrence Co does have a TRADITION here too, and should be competing with those schools. If you are trying to say that Lawrence Co should not be held in the class of Sheldon and P-Burg from past years experiences, then you have not watched much football in the Past.

I never said ALL their opponents are weak. I just said they play teams tough, then their schedule gets weaker each week, which means if they played Belfry that tough, then they should have won one of the last two. By the way, Belfry then Sheldon Clark then Prestonsburg, I believe that is weaker in that order..you agree??:thumb:
