  1. The HC offense appears to have gone beyond what I previously described as "somewhat anemic". While I understand the reasoning behind shortening the game, at some point you have to stretch the O a little.
  2. It should be -- but there's no telling.
  3. Great win for the Tigers... Let's see what they can do in the District this year.
  4. OK -- I have it from three perspectives 1) I'm not perfect. It took another parent with a video camera to get me to calm down. Not negative, just way too loud. 2) When I coached (brief failed experiment), the first item of every season was a parent meeting. The first item was always, "Your actions can influence your child's playing time." This was all encompassing, from practice attendance, to home practice, to asking for more pt, to game conduct. Fortunately, I did not have to enforce this. 3) A couple years ago I was the center official for a big high school soccer match. Midway through the first half, the visiting captain asks me if I can do anything about the one dad that stands out as the "screaming idiot". I hesitated, asking why when the dad was a fan of that visiting team. He told me that it was his dad and happens every game, it was distracting and embarrasing. --- Right or wrong, I asked the AD to address the gentleman. He did and sat near him in the second half. I was told that the dad was removed from the stadium not ten minutes into the second half. He couldn't keep his mouth shut (or quieter than it had been). Keep it fun for the kids...
  5. Also, -- Eliminate the coach calling time out during active play. Dead ball situations I don't have a problem with. (The ball becomes live when handed to the shooter / thrower.) -- Time outs should not require both feet on the floor, but definately eliminate the player jumping / falling out of bounds. -- Keep the possession arrow. Starting every quarter or held ball with a jump is too great an advantage. -- Push the ball to half court on a time out immediately following a successful try (for goal). -- Do not paint the circle on the floor under the basket, make officials call it the right way. -- Go back the release on free throws. -- Simplify the uniform requirements to be in line with the NCAA. -- Eliminate Title 9 scheduling requirements for prime time games. Too many programs are being forced to schedule varsity contestS (b/g) on the same night. -- Put down a line (similar to football) 4 feet from the floor. This is the line that the CHAIRS must be behind. Each gym will be required to have 4 feet of space behind the chairs (about 10 feet from the floor). If you have to leave the back 2 rows folded in, then do so. We need space to play the game. -- EVERY REFEREE LOCKER ROOM MUST HAVE A HOT SHOWER AVAILABLE.:dancingpa
  6. 1. I agree with you, but touching the rim or net is basket interference, not goaltending. 2. I like this also, but if you stop the clock on made baskets, stop it the entire game.
  7. Anyone know if the brackets are online?
  8. Do they have the brackets up for tomorrow's 1pm game yet?
  9. I should have guessed that you knew the answer when you asked the question... This is one of the great myths...
  10. Good to see the Colonels pull this one out.. No doubt that coach will have them ready on Mar 1
  11. The NRBOA would LOVE TO WORK THREE MAN ON EVERY GAME. Unfortunately, the KHSAA and then the Ninth Region Board of Control has left it up to the schools. If you want to see three officials at your game, talk to your head coach and your athletic director. It only takes one call to the Assigning Secretary and three officials will be on every game. That being said.... If you want top level officials to call their best game, they need to work it consistently. You can't have an official work 10 out of 20 games as two man, possibly the whole month of February, then expect perfection for the districts in March. Effort is made to get tournament officials last several games as a three, but it can't always happen. The same can be said for the regular season. I witnessed one of the most respected and decorated officials in the Ninth line up on the wrong side of the floor for a throw in (two man). His partner covered by inbounding the ball, then running all the way across the floor. After the game, the only explanation was, "I was in three man mode." You also can't expect the players to adjust and readjust to having two or three officials on the floor each night. While their adjustment should be easire than the officials', it is still called differently with three. Talk to your school officials. Three is the way to go. Let them know what you as players, parents, and fans want.
  12. I sincerely hope no one expects to come close scoring only 16
  13. 1st, this is a great post!!!:thumb: Second, I don't care how good a player is you have to be able to count on him down the stretch. If Pittman can't keep his emotions in check in a tight game, he will be more liability than asset.
  14. Correction -- Seniors who played as a Junior could not be cut.
  15. I agree that, if a player isn't getting significant minutes in the Varsity, he's not getting any better on the bench. Let the kids get the minutes. If I were coach (I'm not): -- Juniors could be cut, but Seniors can not. -- Any player not seen as CRUCIAL to varsity plays JV, except Seniors -- Discipline is #1 -- if you can't deal with it, I can't deal with you.
  16. I apologize for the previous sarcasm... I'm not trying to take anything away from any student or athlete at Ludlow. It just seems ironic that, in other posts, Coach Stamm was praised for his work there and predictions were that this season may be a little tough. YOU CANNOT WIN SCORING LESS THAN THIRTY POINTS. This is more than tough...
  17. This is the Boone I saw earlier in the year...
  18. I think it goes further. My role in HS Bball was to get beat on... I didn't play many minutes, but in practice, I had to make the rest of the team better! (Please understand that I have no idea other than this thread about Egan). If any player doesn't give it 100% in practice, it WILL bring down the entire team. If a player is disciplined for any other reasons and uses the, "I'll just quit" card, the coach must take action... I'd like to know detail, but this is between Coach Goetz and the young man.
  19. Another outstanding performance from the River Town
  20. 7, 2, &5 points per quarter ???? Was Boone really this good or the Cross really that bad???? Looks like some hard times coming for HC !!!
  21. I had to look it up... a commodity that is freely interchangeable with another in satisfying an obligation of goods or commodities; freely exchangeable for or replaceable by another of like nature or kind in the satisfaction of an obligation
  22. Not terribly surprized at this one... Maybe thsi will kickstart the Colonels into finishing more games.
  23. Conference games are always bigger. Think of it as another way to creste a rivalry and put fans in the stands...
