What is the point of the NKAC? I have yet to meet a coach whose excited about it and I've never met a fan that even knew it existed. This conference forces some ridiculous games to take place and really puts tight reins on some team's schedules.

What games are ridiculous in your eyes? I see that it forces great games. Bishop Brossart vs. Highlands in the most recent one that comes to mind.

For those of us who have been re-aligned out of the 9th Region over the years, it gives us a realtionship with other Northern Kentucky teams. It, along with our district seeding schedule, provides a foundation for our schedule. It also guarantees that each big school in the area play each other, the mid-majors play each other, and it certainly gives the smaller schools who generally don't compete for district/regional titles something to strive for.

 

It's still a big deal at Brossart where we post pictures of all of our NKAC conference champions in our gym lobby (if and when Melvin gets around to it).

 

There was certainly a time when it was a much bigger deal than it is today. Today it is what the teams/coaches themselves make of it. Each conference game is prominently billed as such on our website and referred to as such on our broadcasts. I can tell you right now that our varisty is 2-0, our JVs 1-1, and our Freshmen 2-0 in the NKAC Division II conference race.

 

Perhaps the media needs to promote the NKAC races better, and each member school (contenders) should fan the flames a bit to generate more interest in the conference races.

I know a number of the A schools who play close attention to the conference race. Its gives a NKY "A" school something to shoot for.

Its good for the smaller schools and gives the competetive small schools like Brossart, St Henry,etc a chance to play some bigger schools also. Good points Mustang. I was lucky enough to play on a Co-NKAC champ team my SR year and its kinda cool seeing the nice plaque hanging in the HS hallway.

Conference games are always bigger. Think of it as another way to creste a rivalry and put fans in the stands...

Schools who don't graduate a lot of people enjoy racing for a conference title, this way they have a chance to play for something. Its like the debate about the All A Classic, it my not be state recognized, but teams like playing in it and want to win it.

True, but Holmes is moving down due to enrollment and the smaller schools was my main point. I think Silver Grove graduates around 10 people a year I had heard.

Couldn't figure that one out either? Expectations lowering? Still a bigger school and always a hoops' power? That's like NCC, HC or Brossart going back to D-III??
