  1. I forgot about Hooker he would have to be in the top ten. Hougue from Harlan Co. would be number one if you rated kids on how hard they played.:thumb:
  2. I think Johnson for Holmes could play for UK. He is the best D-1 talent in Kentucky.
  3. He is the best football player I have seen in Eastern Ky. in a long time also. He may be just as good on "D" because the game I watched him play he made about every tackle.
  4. 1. Miller- Knox Central 2. St. John- South Laurel 3. Madison Johnson- Corbin 4. Green- M'boro 5. Reed- Clay Co. 6. Robbins- Bell Co. 7. Mills- Corbin 8. Kid from North Laurel ? help me out HDE 9. Wilson- Clay Co. 10. Simmons- Harlan Co.
  5. If they have to play Green at the point then I would maybe take them out of the top 10. My reason behind that is teams could double him out front and make him give the ball up. If he is not able to post or spot up on the wing for M'boro next season they could be in trouble. This is not to say he could not play the point, but M'boro needs him to score big next season not run the team.:thumb:
  6. 1. Clay Co 2. Corbin 3. South L. 4. Knox Central 5. Bell Co. 6. North Laurel 7. Whitley Co. 8. Harlan Co. 9. M'boro 10- B-ville Harlan Co. could jump up a spot or two if they develop a third option in the "O." I also think M'boro could be dangerous because they will also have good size. The big question for them is if they can develop a PG.
  7. Bell had a bad season last year. I thought talent wise they was in the top 4 or 5 in the region last season. It would be hard for me to put Harlan Co. in front of Bell next season because they will not be able to match up with Bell on the boards because of Robbins and Chambers. Harlan will also have to get a boat load of scoring out of the two returning senior guards.
  8. Clay Co. will have 4 guys in the starting 5 who can put up big numbers. I believe they also return the top 8 players from last season. St. John is hard match up for any team in the 13th because he is the only 6'7 or 6'8 kid.
  9. 1. Clay Co.- They will be loaded with talent and depth next season. 3. Corbin- Return 3 starters from last seasons region title team. 3. South Laurel- They have good guard play and the best big man in the mountains. 4. Knox Central- They have the best player in the region and some good role players. 5. Bell Co.- They have a very good big man in Robbins and return 4 other solid players.
  10. They will be the backs of the future and will get some carries this season. Green will be the man for Larkey and the Bears next season at TB. I believe he has been one of the top backs in the mountains the past two years, but he has just not got the carries. Green will be a top 5 back next season if he gets 18 to 20 carries a game.:thumb:
  11. Maybe the best O-line in the state.
  12. Coach Hicks is a good coach, but I would say he has been feeling some pressure of late. With the loaded roster he has had over the past 10 or 11 years at Scott Co. people believe you should win the region every year and be in the hunt for a state titile also. Lex. Cath winning the region the past two years does not make things any better in Scott Co. I am not saying people do not love and support Coach Hicks in Scott Co. but those fans believe they should win the region every year. I really believe the heat will be on for the players and coaches at Scott Co. next year. I would say they will be rated number 2 next season behind only Holmes. They will feature again a all-star type starting 5. Good luck to the Coach Hicks, staff, and Players next season.
  13. :thumb: Madison Johnson of Corbin and Cody Miller of Knox Central can play with most of the top 5 wing type players in the state. Both of these kids have good size (6'4 or 6'5) and can really score the basketball. I believe both of these players will be in the top 25 players in the state next season.
  14. I agree that more pressure on small town athletics is magnified. In a small town in Eastern Ky. a great ball player is not only a ball player, but also in some cases a small town hero.:thumb:
  15. The big kid from Elliot Co. was the best big man in the Sweet 16 other than Pittman. I think he was only a Soph. (6'7 and could score inside and out). Shelby Valley and Eastern also had a player or two with size that could play.
  16. It seems like Estill Co. has #10 back at RB and he should only be a junior. He will be the 20 to 25 carrier back Estill will be looking for in the Wing T. Look to see him line up at TB. You could also see him play some FB who in the Wing T gets a boat load of carriers and is big in the passing game. I thought he was the fastest kid out of the three backs Estill Co. had last season.
  17. I told a story, I am going to make one more point. If this arena will attract more fans like people are saying because of size and parking; then if you have it their for the next 20 years it will bring more money to the town. I am not saying it will be like Pigeon Forge, but if it's true that the arena will bring a boat load of more fans to the games. Then more people will mean more money. I guess we could say everyone going to the game can not buy gas or eat in the city of Corbin. Also the above picture may be a little small compared to the arena, but it's just as nice and in my book it still takes the cake.
  18. Best High School PG Polson, but the best college type PG Jackson.
  19. This does not have anything to do with Harlan Co. I just would like to see them keep the regional the way it has been. Why change the tradition that has worked in the past. I also agree with Odessa, reward the schools with the money who make the regional. Nobody said this arena was built just for the regional, but Corbin would be the only TOWN to get the money coming in for the regional. :walk: I am walking away from this post I have made my points related to change is not the best option all the time; Like a fan getting a great seat or parking spot.
  20. Rumor starting thread waiting to happen (LOL).
  21. Come on BUBBA, we are talking about eastern Ky. towns not Lexington and Louisville. I do not see how a true eastern ky. basketball fan could be for moving the regional to a big arena every year in Corbin. To me it kind of takes fun and tradition out of the regional. :ohbrother:
  22. OK, Les lets not get upset over this issue. I guess we will have to see what happens when the Cumerland Falls Tourney rolls around.:isurrender:
  23. Good point, but playing in a big arena like that if someone got to have a few practice sessions it would give them a big advantage. If you ever played B-ball you would know shooting the ball in a big arena is different than playing in a regular high school gym. I am not saying that Corbin would get to practice in the gym, but if ANY team did it would make a difference. The other answer to the question would be Corbin is a tradition rich program in the 13th region. I would bet you my house that Corbin will be in the tourney for many years to come.:thumb:
