Do you have a link to The Arena? What is the seating capacity and other particulars?

I like having the Region tourney at the individual schools. This would be a good idea if they would not let any teams in the region play or practice in this arena during the regular season.

Yeah, those split sessions are lovely and parking a mile and a half away from the gym on 25 is just the ideal situation for any school to host the event.

Here is a picture of The Arena without any of the seats put on the floor, yet.

The parking at schools like Clay, Knox, or Harlan Co. would not be like the situation at Bell. The picture of of the arena is nice, but I still think the Harlan Co. gym takes the cake. I guess those Hounds will not get to practice in the arena all year long.

Is it true that all schools will get money from the tourney even those that are not in the Regional. If so maybe this is why many schools are for the change?

Harlan County High school would be a great place to hold the tourny. Hopefully, it will be up to the host school to host it at the Arena or not. I am fine with holding it at the Arena BUT WHEN ITS OUR TURN IT NEEDS TO BE AT HARLAN COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL. I have also heard many times the check is in the mail but never see it. We shall see it the payout holds true for future years?

Harlan County's gym doesn't take the cake .... that is HILARIOUS. It's nice, very nice, but not better than this place. Sorry.

The only way the Hounds or anyone will get to practice there will be if they pay a hefty penny, and I do mean a hefty penny. It's a BUISNESS, not owned by Corbin High School. If you read any of the story you would have known that they are going to make sure there is a stipulation in the contract that NO team (INCLUDING CORBIN) wouldn't be allowed to play or practice there.

And the answer two your second question is 'Yes'. I believe The arena will get the regional tournaments, that's just my opinion, BUT I also believe Harlan County will get its turn to host the event when the time comes. But that's just what I believe.

That's why you sign a contract.:thumb:

Will Harlan Co. practice in their gym the year they host the tourney? I'm sure that if this was a point of contention with the other schools that Corbin would agree not to practice in the facility. There is no guarantee that Corbin will make the region anyways, especially after next season.

As for the parking at Knox two years ago, it was bad as well.

What was told at the meeting was that folding chairs would be placed on the floor WITHOUT ANY ELEVATION? Not perfect by any stretch. Also the first seat in the stands are a long, long way from the action, but the Arena is very nice without a doubt!

It takes three hours to put that floor down and they have to pay the workers to do that and three hours to put it back up. And, you would have to pay a rental fee, so Corbin isn't going to have a red carpet rolled out for them and I don't believe Corbin has ever expected that.

The people at The Arena is running a buisness.
