Not sure what your point is. Of course walk-ons aren't getting money, that is the essential difference. As far as the others like training table, that is part of the cost of college either on a 5 day or 7 day meal plan and since walk-ons aren't getting money they pay... That also differs by team, some have separate dining facilities for scholarship players, some don't and they all eat together, so it really doesn't matter. And per diem? Sorry but players can't get paid for living expenses, that is a violation. I'm not sure if you have an axe to grind here or what, maybe you had a bad experience with walking on - there have been many who have, but the whole point of this is that players can keep on playing if they can prove themselves. There have been many walk-ons who have been left out in the cold, and felt they were done wrong. Normally because they thought they could hang on and get on scholarship only to have the university go recruit someone in their place. There is no guarantee. And by the way, there's no guarantee for scholarship players either. The days of 4 year scholarships are long gone. Every player has to prove himself every year. Show up fat, out of shape, and unmotivated and see how long your scholarship lasts.

Look for County to have anther good year. They have a lot of backs returning and will have to fill some gaps in the OL. Biggest loss from last years team was their QB, they'll have a hard time replacing him.

Wrong. Bottom line is this. The NCAA caps scholarships at 85, and caps the number of players who can be brought to camp at 105. Thus the other 20 are your preferred, invited (what ever you want to call them) walk ons. Those guys are not guaranteed anything, but it is accepted that they'll get a spot on the roster or they wouldn't be asked to come early. Most teams end up carrying about 120, meaning regular walk-ons are added as well. What is not considered is that there are upperclassmen walk-ons as well and they go into that number, along with most kickers, snappers, etc. So, if you're invited to camp as part of that 105, then you've been asked by the team to play for them. Guys who do this and stick it out have a good chance of being on scholarship the next year. Another tidbit, its against NCAA rules for colleges to comment on walk ons until they sign and are enrolled at the university.

They are not related. Coaches can attempt to schedule that way and many are successfull. When schools have fall breaks has no bearing on football open dates.

No. Unless you're talking about 4.3 or better that ain't 'blinding speed' these days, sorry. Maybe your definition is different. I'm not saying he isn't a good football player, he obviously is. When you talk about Mr. Football, the stats are going to really have to show it. It's the system more than anythnig else. It will be extremely difficult for any wide receiver will ever get it, unless he returns multiple kickoffs and punts for TDs, has numerous interceptions and is Deon Sanders like. He won't be able to pile up the stats to compete with the top backs and QBs, and offensive lineman can't either. You can't tell me there hasn't been a lineman who wasn't the best football player in the state since they've had the award.

He certainly is a very good player and diserving of awards and recognition, but let's not get carried away here. Mr football?, 'blinding speed'?, That's a bit over the top.

District 1, Region 1 how consists of Christian Co, Hopkinsville, Madisonville, Ohio Co, and Owensboro making it one of the toughest districts in the state in my opinion.

I would like to know just how much booster clubs out there raise in a year, on average. Please throw in any other interesting or innovative things that your boosters do to support your football programs.

Is that a KRS, or KHSAA rule and if you know off hand, can you provide the verbage and where that is stated?

IMO I'll still take the 07 team for the same reasons folks have posted earlier. Both teams are very good obviously. What is most impressive to me, not being a Highlands fan, is that they can put together teams that good without having loads of 'D1' players. I don't know how many off of this year's team will go on to play college football, I would think there will be a hand full. I would say a couple of their lineman definately have a shot at the D1 level, and I don't think any of their players from last year were signed by a D1 school (correct me if I'm wrong and I'm sure you all will). What amazes me is that they can compile the kind of record that they have compiled without a Mr. Football or a load of 'D1' type players. That's not a knock on their players, it's a testiment to them - and their ability to play as a team.

I saw him against Hoptown too... IMO he's no Mr. Football. He's a solid player, but he's not going to get the touches and stats to make him a serious candidate.

Ft Campbell is actually MORE private than any other school in the state with the exception of Ft Knox. You must live on post to play for the Falcons, even active duty military families that live off post can't send their kids to Ft Campbell schools.
