I've heard that Charles Walker is not playing basketball this year. Any knowledge of that?

Junior Tre Burgess and sophomore William Olsen will be huge contibuters to this years Tiger Squad.

Manual-Male is probably the oldest rivalry and continues to be an intense rivalry regardless of the sport. Be it basketball, football, soccer or field hockey always played before large crowds and hard fought.

I would put him ahead of both Corey Douglas and Will Parker. I also think that Trotter is overrated. Douglas is just long and plays around the rim. He has no perimeter game. Parker, hasn't impressed me much at all. Granted he has been injured but his numbers don't add up. Trotter is quite possibly the most athletic player in the state, but he is way to inconsistent and I don't know about his basketball IQ. I like Owens, but I don't believe Ramser is better.

Also, Champ Ligon returns to the head coaching ranks taking over for Jeff Sparks who is now coaching Manual. Ligon has more than 350 wins in a career in which he previously coached boys at Atherton, Male, Shelby County, and Bryan Station.The past two seasons he has been an assistant on Jimmy Just's staff at Manual.

I believe Dwayne Sutton of Manual should be in the top 10 players of the region. He averaged 11 points and 8.5 rebounds as a sophomore last year. He had numerous double-doubles last season. He is a 6'4 wing player that is relentless on the glass. He had 15 pt's 13 rebounds, 6 assists, and 5 steals in the game against Ballard, He also had a 20 rebound game against Moore(17 defensive).

It's a shame you have 4 of the top 8 teams in 6A in the same district. #1 Trinity, #3 St. X, #4 Male, and #8 Manual. Manual has a chance to move to 4-0 and move ahead of 2 loss Ballard this week with a victory over the Bruins.

Iroquois will be a contender in the 6th this year. The Raiders could possibly have as many as 11 seniors on this years team. They do indeed resemble the old Iroquois teams coached by Jimmy Just. They will be small in stature but big in heart and determination. They will pressure full court, play aggressive man to man defense in the half-court. Their kids are willing to sacrifice their bodies by getting on the floor after loose balls and taking the charge. Devon Johnson is a legitimate small d1 prospect who has an exceptional mid-range game and attacks the rim well. The Raiders also have a number of kids who shoot the 3 extremely well. I think PRP is a notch above everyone else in the 6th but Iroquois and the Doss Dragons will definitely make some noise.

Young Life do you think Dwayne "Waynie" Sutton from Manual deserves some recognition as one of the top players in the class of 2015? I know he had a great year for Manual as a sophomore leading them in scoring(11.5) and rebounding (8.5) last season. He had at least 10 double-doubles if not more as well as being an excellent defender.

I'm betting Thomas Nelson will be Fairdale's 1st round opponent in the tournament.

Manual will be very young again this season as they return only two Seniors Trey Boyd and Raleigh Dixon. The Crimsons have Juniors Dwayne Sutton, JaKory Freeman, Tyron Horton, Jarrett Harness, Chris West, Jake Chilton as well as Junior transfer Jalen Smith from Trinity. Sophomores that will be counted on to contribute are Nik Reed, Tim Comstock, and Marquis McClendon. All of these players mentioned with the exception of Jalen Smith will have varsity experience under their belts. All 5 players that were starting at the end of last season return(Freeman, Boyd, Sutton, Harness, and Horton). This could be an extremely competitive team come February and March with improved defense and chemistry. Attacking zones has been their achilles heel this summer. With more practice time I believe the Crimsons will rectify this weakness. While this team will count heavily on Boyd, Sutton and Reed to supply much of their scoring anyone of the 11 or 12 players is capable of leading the team in scoring. Sutton in my opinion was an overlooked sophomore last year he averaged 11 points and 8.5 rebounds for the Crimsons. He should be considered one of the top players in the 7th region this season. Nik Reed, Tim Comstock, and Marquis McClendon are 3 of the top sophomores to be in the region.

Manual has two kids that will be very good next year. Senior to be Trey Boyd and Junior to be Dwayne Sutton. The Crimsons have several other underclassmen that should develop into very nice players, including 3 Sophomores to be Nick Reed, Tim Comstock, and Marquis McClendon.
