  1. I agree with Northstar, the loss of William Johnson is to much to over come for the Bears. Western in a close one.
  2. Sutton actually had 33 and 15, according to Courier Journal.
  3. Match-ups I'd Like to see: Manual vs Taylor Co. Cov. Catholic vs Henderson Co. Fairdale vs Jeffersonville Shelby Co. vs Bullitt East Fern Creek vs Knox Central Newport vs Dunbar
  4. While most of LCA's games are played against teams from Lexington or the 11th Region, LCA has played 2 games so far this year against the teams of other players mentioned as potential Mr. Basketball candidates. In those games, Rose went for 25 & 7 against Trinity and 21 & 8 against Manual, posting better numbers than both Spalding and Sutton. Sutton: 4-10 from 2pt, 2-5 from 3pt, 4-6 fts, 18 pts 10 rebs. 6 assists Rose: 4-11 from 2pt, 2-4 from 3, 7-9 fts, 21 pts, 8 rebs. 2 assists. Don't think this equates to better numbers.
  5. Dwayne Sutton Pts/ game – 24.8 FG% - 49.4 3Pt% - 24.4 FT% - 74.3 Reb/game – 11.3
  6. Henderson Co. shot 54% overall against Manual (24/46) including 40% 6/15 from 3 point range. While Manual only shot 36% (22/61), 4/21 from 3 for 19%.
  7. I agree Simmons definitely deserves to be on any team you are selecting. He plays with passion, intensity, and swag. I would like to point out that Dwayne Sutton went for 40 points and 14 rebounds against Simmons.
  8. MANUAL 77 SCOTT COUNTY 63 Final Manual was in control of this one from the start. They were up 20+ when both teams emptied their benches with 3:00 minute to go. Their pressure caused Scott County numerous problems and Dwayne Sutton was a beast hitting 13 of 16 shots finishing with 29 points and 12 rebounds. Scott Co. had no answer for him. Crimsons sitting at 8-0 heading into the very competitive Republic Bank Classic at Lexington Catholic.
  9. Dwayne Sutton's Line so far: 29 points, 11 rebounds, 20 minutes. (Manual 81 Christian Academy 52) 36 points , 14 rebounds, 22 minutes (Manual 104 Shawnee 71) 24 Points 8 Rebounds, 16 Minutes (Manual 86 Ashland 36) 13 points, 8 Rebounds, 20 minutes (Manual 77 Bardstown 43) 27 points, 14 rebounds, 23 minutes (Manual 88 Seneca 70) 22 points, 15 rebounds, 27 minutes (Manual 66 Butler 64)
  10. 7. North Bullitt 5. North Hardin 3. Gallatin County 2. Green County 1. Caverna TB: North Hardin
  11. I believe Dwayne "Waynie" Sutton of Manual needs to be in the discussion. He is averaging 25.8 ppg and 11 rebounds a game in about 20 minutes per game. The Crimsons have started the season 5-0 with an average win margin of 33 points. He has not played in the fourth quarter of 4 of the 5 games they've played and sat out about two minutes of each of the other quarters. The schedule should pick up this week with games against Butler, Lafayette, and Scott County. They also play in the Republic Bank Classic at Lex. Catholic after Christmas. I know I constantly tooted Sutton's horn last season but someone needs to because he needs to be in the conversation when speaking of the top players in the state. This season he is shooting 54% from the field overall and 33 % from 3 point range. He is also a great defender who can guard 1 thru 5. My vote: Waynie Sutton Manual High School for Mr. Basketball
  12. Central will be much improved if Brandon Wells is eligible to play. He is moving from Waggener to Central. Central is a Magnet school, therefore Central has no resides area for him to move into. Manual has the same issue. So if a player played any varsity basketball at their previous school they are required to sit out a year. That being said Central looked very good this summer. They also have a 6'4 Junior transfer from Jeffersonville Indiana that should help. He gives them some much needed size. They are an extremely quick and aggressive team that shoots the 3 very well. I don't anticipate Shawnee passing them up this season. I also feel Manual should win the district again with 6 seniors returning from their district championship team last year.
  13. I believe the field consists of: Lexington Catholic Lexington Christian Trinity Manual Male Central Bullitt East Covington Catholic Perry Co. Central Apollo Henderson Co. Oldham Co. Casey Co. Boyle Co. North Laurel Betsy Lane
  14. Smallhoops you are probably right about T's starting 5 being better. I think it will be interesting to see who T's starting 5 will consist of. Will D. West and Thieneman step into the starting spots vacated by Ivory and Owens?
  15. The Crimsons return 4 of 5 starters from last years 20-11 squad including Dwayne "Waynie" Sutton. Sutton recently committed to UNC Asheville. In my opinion he is one of the top 10 players in the state. I expect that Manual will be in the upper tier of the very tough 7th region this season. With a team consisting of 6 seniors and at least 5 juniors who have plenty of experience due to the fact that coach Just believes in playing a lot of players during the course of the regular season. Some of the players that the Crimsons will rely on this season are Seniors Chris West, Jarrett Harness, Ja'kory Freeman, Jake Chilton, and Ty'Ron Horton, a recent football commitment to WKU. I believe Manual's starting five will be as good as any in the state. The key for the Crimson's will be the type of contributions the juniors can give. Top juniors for the team are Marquis McClendon, Stevie Gordon, and Jo Aunn Rivers. The team has 3 Juniors that are starters for the football team, Tim Comstock, Eric Niemann, and Omari Alexander who may or may not choose to play basketball this season. This could effect the team greatly as far as depth is concerned. If they choose not to play the team will have to call on some underclassmen to pick up the slack.
  16. Manual is in the Republic Bank Classic as well. Also, the 1/31 date that Dunbar is playing in at Fairdale is a one day event. Manual is also scheduled to participate in it as well.
  17. I believe Manual will be a contender in the 7th this coming season. They return 6 seniors (Chris West Jr., Jake Chilton, Ja'Kory Freeman, TyRon Horton, Jarrett Harness, and Waynie Sutton) who all saw significant playing time last season. Manual is led by one of the top players in the state, Dwayne "Waynie" Sutton who recently committed to UNC Asheville. He averaged 21 pts and 11 rebounds for the Crimson's last season. The other Seniors are all quality players that should approach double figure averages this coming season. The Crimson's will have to fill the shoes of recent graduate Trey Boyd. Trey averaged 12 pts and 5 rebounds for the team last season. Marquis McClendon is a junior who I expect could be called on to fill that position. Other Juniors expected to make contributions this season will be Stevie Gordon, Jo Aunn Rivers, Omari Alexander and Eric Niemann. Another Junior, who was a key contributor last season was Tim Comstock Jr. Tim is the starting quarterback on the football team this year and may elect to concentrate on football this season. The Crimson's went 20-11 last season. They played 6 overtime games losing 4 of the 6 overtime games. Free-throw shooting was Manual's Achilles heel last season. If they can improve their free-throw shooting to closeout games, I truly believe they will be right in the thick of the regional race.
  18. 7.North Oldham 5.North Hardin 3.Iroquois 2.Christian Academy 1.Bullitt East TB:North Oldham
  19. 7 Manual 5 Shelby County 3 Jackson County 2 Simon Kenton 1 Ensworth Tennessee TB: Manual
  20. There were a couple of excellent players on the 2000 Iroquois High School Team that lost to Scott County in the Quarterfinals. 5'6 Point Guard DeShawn "Moonie" Bowman and Anthony "Wooda" Johnson. They both went on to play at Motlow State JC. Johnson if I recall correctly was 9 of 9 from the field in the Scott County game.
  21. I like Cameron Reed from Eastern. I think he has really improved. But I think Ashanti Burgess (St. X), Lucas Miller (St. Xavier), Chris Coffey (Seneca), Brandon Johnson (Central) William Rainey (Atherton), Corey Douglas (Ballard), Brandon Berry (Ballard), Brandon Horne (Male), Chris West (Manual), and Christian Thieneman (Trinity) are all quality Seniors to be, that don't get the recognition they deserve.
