Ravon Lee from Ballard literally jumping over 6-7 center from South Laurel in the LIT was the nastiest dunk I've witnessed from a high school player. I know some of you remember it.

BGP Boys State Rankings 02/02
Crimsonfan1 replied to gold sunrise's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
I guess the question as far as the 27th District is concerned is do they seed or do they draw for District tournament matchups. If they seed then Ballard is the 1 seed by virtue of beating both Trinity and Seneca in the regular season match-ups. Trinity would be the 2 seed and Seneca the 3 seed. Waggener would be the 4th seed. So your district match-ups would be: Ballard vs Waggener Trinity vs Seneca with the losers not advancing to the regional tournament. So it is possible that Trinity could have have a 26-2 record having won the 3 top tournaments in KY and still not make it out of the District. Trinity is playing the best basketball of any team in the 7th region right now but one slip up in the first round of the district and season is over. The 27th is just one strong district in the 7th region this year. My predictions are as follow with district winner being named first: 7th Region 25th- Manual and Male 26th- Moore and Fern Creek 27th- Ballard and Trinity 28th- Eastern and J-town 6th Region 21st- PRP and Holy Cross 22nd- Iroquois and DeSales 23rd- Central and Shawnee 24th- Fairdale and Bullitt East -
Eastern only loses Delquan Thomas and Calvin Hill. They should be the top team in the state.

Lexington Catholic 70 Manual 65
Crimsonfan1 replied to passtheball's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Lexington Catholic won the game at the line. They shot 21 free throws in the 4th quarter making 18 of them. They shot 37 free throws overall. Manual did not press until the last minute of the game, while LC used some sort of pressure the entire game. Nikolic fouled out with 5:30 left to go in the game. He only played 2 minutes in the first half after picking up two fouls, one of which was very questionable. Samsel was ejected with 3:30 left in the game for what the official deemed a flagrant technical foul said he used profanity toward an opposing player after he was fouled and walking to the other end to shoot the free throws. I heard the LC coaching staff tell the Manual coaching staff that it was the worst officiated game they had witnessed this year. -

Manual has 4 players averaging double figures: Samsel 13 Mitchell 12 Jones 11 Nikolic 10 that sounds like pretty good balance to me. -

Male doesn't apply pressure. They are also using more zone than they ever have before. -

HDE, You have Evangel Christian in a District in both Regions. -
Hicks' dad was quoted in the paper as saying that this isn't a done deal - but that they are looking for a school with a better academic reputation than Shelby because of the kid's interest in Duke. I guess we'll see. If thats the case, he should look into attending Manual. They are the top academic school in the state.

Samsels' game has really progressed over the summer. He not only is an exceptional shooter he also has great handles sees the floor well and is a good on the ball defender. In my opinion he could be considered one of the best PG's in the state if he will just buy into the KISS (Keep It Simple Sean) principle. He has a tendency to want to make everything harder than it has to be. He could also work a little harder on his off the ball defense. That being said, I think Sean is the one of the top 10 seniors in Jefferson Co. and that is excellent company.
