Saw her at a game over Christmas with her hand in a cast.

I agree that WV wins this one easily, but I am not sure how much PT Nargessi and Bowling will get. Since her injury, Bowling has lost her place to the freshmen Dixon who is currently #10 on the top scorers list in N. KY. Hard to see her losing any minutes. Since Nargessi's injury, the two 8th graders have apparently been playing very well and adding the spark that has led to this 4 game win streak. I wish both girls the best of luck in their recoveries, and since they are seniors I know they want to play and play now, but I think it will take some time before they are a factor other than adding depth to an already deep bench.

I heard Gallatin won by 10, did anyone go who could give some insight into the game??

The young ones off the bench added some spark, but this game belonged to Dixon and Hargett. They combined for 34 points and they came in chunks at inopportune times. I think Dixon had 8 in the first 2 minutes, and Hargett had 14 in the third to answer W-town's run, but if W-town had hit their bunnies, it would have been a game. Maybe they will run into each other in the All "A" Finals.

I have heard from some reliable sources that the priority is for the players grade level and as long as moving up does not interefere with them playing for their grade (at least as far as MS goes) then it is ok.

Not particularly one way or the other. Owen did get in some foul trouble, but nothing that should not have been called.

Is it the coaches plan or the athletic department's. It is my understanding that Walton-Verona has a rule that says that middle school players must play middle school ball. Either way, it seems to be helping the varsity at this point in time.

I heard a coach say one time that you work really hard chopping down a tree with a baseball bat, doesn't mean it is smart. Give me a player who knows how to use a chainsaw.. Give her some time and she will work hard and be smart. She is just an 8th grader and will make some 8th grade mistakes, but it sure seems like her and the Cheesmen girl have been a spark for the Lady Bearcats in the last two victories.

The question is which WV team will W-town be playing. If the WV team that pounded Owen in the first half shows up things are looking bad for the Lady Demons. If the WV team that dropped 2 of 3 in their Christmas Tournament shows up, then Wilhoit, Stith, West and company could pull the upset. Definitely one worth watching.

16-2 WV at the end of the first quarter, 26-8 at the half. Walton looked great. Second half Owen came out and battled back and cut it to 2 points, but WV pulled away at the end to make it 46-36. Owen got in a little foul trouble early, but WV played a great game the first half, and good enough to win in the second. Owen looked a little tired, maybe from their battle against Carroll the night before, but WV had Grant the night before as well and looked sharp. The best they have played this season.

that may be the best post I have ever read on here,:laugh: but seriously, I think adding the 8th graders to the mix may have added a spark. Hargett, Sargent and Krahl all had very good games to go along with Dixon, Ginn, and Cheesman. If they keep playing at this level they may indeed win the All "A"

Wow, the team that came out the first half looked incredible. If they can play with that type of intensity for the rest of the year they can make some noise in the All "A" Regional. Not sure, but my hypothesis is that the young players, Ginn and Cheesman coming off of the bench, have added the spark that the team has needed. Good luck and keep it up.

Ludlow losing Kassi Wofford, their point guard for the past 5 years, to graduation last year is still effecting Ludlow. They have great post players with good size inside, but are vulnerable to NCC's press. I think NCC is the clear cut favorite.

I have watched both play, I think it would be a good game, but my money would be on Ryle.

I agree, last night was a big win for them, however, they need to take care of business tonight against Class "A" Rival Owen County. If they do not come to play tonight, then last night was all for nothing.

Grant County started off very strong this year with wins over Trimble, Owen, and Williamstown, but has fallen off lately with losses to Villa and Bellevue. I think both teams need this win to right their ships and that they will fight hard for victory. Both coaches know how important it is, and the homecourt acvantage has to go to Grant, but with that said, I think that WV wins by 5 because they just have more talent.

Last year was WV's first non winning season in quite a few years.

In basketball their are no A. AA. AAA, whatever. They are all the same in the eyes of the KHSAA. You can attempt to take the class divisions from football and apply them to basketball, but the KHSAA does not. The Class "A" Tournament is for the small schools. Next year it will be for the 125 (I believe) smallest schools in the state.

I say they beat Grant (they are not playing their best right now) and lose to Owen County (they are on a roll).

Not that it was a big game, but Walton-Verona beat Grant County last night 68-15. It was Walton's first freshmen game of the year, and it only had 2 freshmen on it, the rest were 7th and 8th graders. I think that is quite impressive. Look for big things from that group of players at WV.

You are mistaken, the open gym was from 10:00-12:00. Maybe we have a new problem, the girls didn't know when the open gym was. LOL

The open gym was from 10:00 to 12:00. All I am saying is that the fact that only one kid showed up for open gym speaks to the fact that there is a problem.
