If they are not competitions, why do they have valedectorians and give scholarships based on GPA and test scores, or are you opposed to that too. IMO their loss in Ohio. That is the problem with a lot of things today. We have to make everyone happy and make everyone feel good about themselves. If you are a senior playing varsity basketball and a 7th grader is better than you, tough *^@#!!. Get out and work a little harder so that 12 year old does not take your spot. You are probably in favor of giving trophies to everyone who participated in the tournament instead of selecting an MVP too, aren't you? PCBS.:mad:

Grant then Owen, two good opportunities to prove themselves. Both should be very winable games for the Lady Bearcats based on pre-season expectations, but with their struggles lately both could be interesting. Two wins could make a big difference in their season, where two loses could be nails in the coffin. What do you think??

I guess it just comes down to people being frustrated seeing what they thought was a very talented team and a good program under perform. Everyone has their opinion as to why it happens, and this forum is a great way to express those opinions. In reality only those directly involved can turn things around, and hopefully the win today against Pendelton County can be the catalyst they need to make it happen before the All "A" roles around.

Then the first round of the 8th Region All "A" should be a battle.

After reading Jeanie's post it made me think about yor comments again. So you think the problem is the players?? and that moving new, younger, less experienced players into the same program with the same coaches would get better results? Is this correct?? I am just asking for clarification.

Several 20+ win seasons, All A State Final Four, Several conference Championships, and a few District runner ups leading to Regional Appearances over the past several years. Theri was definitely a winning tradition established, even if it was at a Class "A" level.

Anyone at the game who can give me their take? Congratulations to Coach Wilhoit and his girls. This may be the spark they have been looking for that will start them on the winning track. He works very hard with them and they have a lot of talent, they just need to learn how to win and this may be the start. By the way, this is a preview of the All "A" 8th Region tournament, the winner getting Eminence for a chance to go to the finals.

They did win their last game of the Christmas Tournament over Pendelton County. Maybe that will be the start of a positive swing. But I say if they do not have some success in the All "A' Regional, some changes need to be made. Either with the players, gearing up for the future, or with the leadership. Too much talent to not have some success.

Hopefully they will get it together and knock off Elliott.

How has Ludlow's guard play been? I see that as their biggest weakness.

He does get a lot out of his players. I have to agree.

He is still teaching at Walton-Verona, just not coaching there. Spending his coaching time with his daughter's various AAU teams. I also heard he helps out at Williamstown every once in a while with Coach Wilhoit.

I think that challenging for an All "A" Regional Title is within their grasp, talent wise, if they can pull things together by then. Their Christmas Tournament will be a big test for them.

I don't think that is always the case. I think many times that new coach provides the catalyst that the team needs to take things to the next level. I have seen new coaches come in and have an impact right away,. Look at Ryle this year for example. They are playing their best ball in years, maybe in school history. What do you think the difference is?? Are you saying that the players do not respect the coach? That the coach does not respect the players?? If so, why?? The are obvioulsy one of the most talented teams in the 8th region.

I think the purpose of this thread is to discuss the direction in which the program is going. The school stated they wanted to go in a different direction and they definitely have. The question is why are they underachieving so badly and what, if anything, is going to be done about it.

Well said. If you trace this specific group of players performance back they were very successful at the varsity level up until the change. Whatever happened, it was not good for this groups winning and losing.

I couldn't agree more. I know a few of the talented younger kids have ties to other schools. Ones dad coaches in the Boone County School District, and another's mother is a teacher at Gallatin. A few others are out of district and paying tuition to go to WV. It would not be that hard for some of them to leave and go elsewhere if things continue on the path they are on.

Hopefully you are right, because if things keep going the way they are, I would imagine many of the talented younger girls will go elsewhere.
