Walton Verona has had a crazy, up and down season so far. A week ago everyone was asking what is wrong with WV, and now their on a roll. It seems ever since the coach brought up the younger girls to play, it's started something good! I don't know really what happened, but whatever she/girls did, keep it up!

 

Williamstown has had two straight "L's" and need to get some 'MO' before the All A. They have to travel to Walton and I think will find it had to score. Williamstown play's hard, but it won't be enough to knock off Walton.

 

Walton by 15+ (Playing great ball/3 straight wins!)

 

Any thoughts?

I think Walton wins this one for 2 reasons:

 

1. Playing at Home

2. Their size will give Williamstown problems.

Walton Verona 20+

I'm going to try and attend this game and get one of those good hotdogs they serve at Walton. I'll take the Bearcats by 12.

The question is which WV team will W-town be playing. If the WV team that pounded Owen in the first half shows up things are looking bad for the Lady Demons. If the WV team that dropped 2 of 3 in their Christmas Tournament shows up, then Wilhoit, Stith, West and company could pull the upset.

 

Definitely one worth watching.

If Williamstown stays out of foul trouble and Wilhoit, Stith and West get at least 28-30 minutes each in the game, I feel the game will go down to the wire. They may be small, but they play alot bigger than they are. A Williamstown upset will throw a wrench into the district seedings. It will be interesting to see how it all plays out.

I also think WV will win. I was at the game when Walton beat Grant Co. That Ginn girl can play some defense.

Does she still fall down everytime she takes a shot? I watched her last year and when ever someone got close to her, down she went. At the varsity level, that would leave her team mates at a disadvantage due to the speed of the game.

I don't know. Never noticed that. Played harder than any player I've seen lately.

She did do that when I seen her. She is a nice athlete.

She still seems to very "jumpie" out on the floor. Still young so thats understandable, but does try very hard!

 

During the Grant County game, the younger-class girls stepped in, and played well, but I did see some disadvantages due to their speed, from their girl they were playing against. Seemed very easy for the Grant guards to hit the wholes on the floor. It worries me for this game and when Walton play's Carroll(Two team's much faster than Grant). If Grant would have finished their easy shots, it would have been a different game. But the young girls add a little "pep" to the team, and that was needed!

I heard a coach say one time that you work really hard chopping down a tree with a baseball bat, doesn't mean it is smart. Give me a player who knows how to use a chainsaw..

 

Give her some time and she will work hard and be smart. She is just an 8th grader and will make some 8th grade mistakes, but it sure seems like her and the Cheesmen girl have been a spark for the Lady Bearcats in the last two victories.

To answer your question: yes, she still falls down all the time while on offense and defense. It does leave her and her teammates at a disadvantage. She needs to play under more control and stay on her feet. She does hustle and play hard.

Walton should win by 20+. They need a big win to keep rolling.
