Expect the unexpected from the Walton administration. Their decision will surprise some and not surprise others. There definitely won't be any pressure to win based on their talent pool so I think this makes their decision more simplified.

We heard rumors of Hicks leaving last year and that didn't happen. I know he hasn't stayed anyway for any length of time but why would he even consider leaving Grant with basically the entire team returning and being possibly the 8th Region favorite? Also, I don't think he would fit in real well with the Walton followers.

Now that is funny. If the Walton parents couldn't handle Trames' tough love and in your face approach, they sure couldn't handle Hicks'. They need someone who is going to be kinder and gentler.

I've stayed out of this thread but after reading it, I would like to hear LetsRoll's examples of favoritism. It seems he has completely ignored all requests for him to give examples. Since he can't give any examples, it leads me to believe its not occurring.

Saw on another thread that Mullins name has surfaced for the Walton job. I don't see that happening. I look for some news from Walton about a new coach in the near future.

I hear ya but anything can happen at Walton. They would be crazy to even consider Mullins. I think we will hear something shortly.

I've seen a lot of games over the past few years in the 8th, 9th and 10th regions and without a doubt, the 8th region officials call a more consistent game. All regions have their top 10 to 15 officials who are quality refs and if you mixed them all together you wouldn't know what association they were in. Seems like a lot of the 9th region fans are always ragging the 8th region officials but if you look at past and recent 9th region threads, they also rag on their beloved 9th officials. Just my observations. Bombs away!!

I agree. Coach Hicks plays the kids who are working hard and performing to his expectations. I to would like to hear some examples from LetsRoll.

Whoever cancelled the game made the right call. There's no hurry to get this game in. Heck, it could be played Friday, no big deal.

I have to disagree with you regarding Carr playing out of position. He's exactly where he needs to be. There's no way he is a point guard. He's a scorer not a ball handler and playmaker/floor general.

Grant will have no chance at getting to Rupp if they play the same soft schedule that they did this year. Forget about padding their record and play some tougher competition that will prepare them for post-season.

Why don't you tell us how you really feel!! Must be some history for you to have such strong feelings. Sandlin is a first class official and does a great job. Yes, he can be animated at times but he always calls a solid game. He's one of the best and this ain't his first time at the rodeo. Congrats to the Sandman!

The third official may not have seen it if it wasn't in his primary area. All officials have primary areas and sometimes these areas overlap. That's why you may have two officials blowing on the same play. That's why the third official is not an option. If all three officials are ball watching, who's watching the other players who are not around the ball. Good officials stay in their primaries and trust their partners to cover their's. Blarges happen, it's part of the game.
